SportVU Data and Other New Metrics
If you’re unfamiliar with SportVU, the NBA installed cameras in every stadium and have been tracking unique and new statistics derived from the data ever since. You can access the public data on stats.nba.com, and you can also find places that use SportVU data in creating new metrics, which we’ll go over in one moment.
Some of the new SportVU metrics include speed, distance run, catch and shoot numbers, how “open” a shot is, touches, drives, and on and on. There are many more and I encourage you to go look at them yourselves. The main question, however, and the one that we’ve been concerned about all course is, is it useful in NBA DFS?
