2016 Recap by the Numbers - And a THANK YOU

The year 2016 will go down as one of the most important ever for the Daily Fantasy Sports industry. Throughout the year, we witnessed legal battles, massive prize pools and the announcement that the two industry leaders, FanDuel and DraftKings, intend to merge. Eight states passed legislation to legalize DFS, new sites were launched and multiple people became overnight millionaires. Throughout all the ups and downs, the industry stood its ground and worked to ensure a better future for the game we all love to play.

RotoGrinders rode the wave like everyone else and continued to do what we have always done – provide our community with the best possible tools, content and strategy conversations to help you be successful. (We tried to have a lot of fun with you along the way, too.)

With 2016 coming to an end and 2017 on the horizon, we at RotoGrinders wanted to take a moment to recap our past year and highlight some things we are most proud of:

3,812 daily strategy articles written

As many of you know, we write and publish A LOT of articles daily. We were pretty surprised though when we looked and found out just how many we published in 2016. From the daily staples like the Grind Down, to our Incentives premium articles across all sites and sports, our contributors stay busy!

196,131 CourtIQ queries run

It’s gratifying to see that our members love CourtIQ as much as we do. We have spent a great deal of time working on it and are extremely proud of the final product. If you are not using this tool, please do yourself a favor and check it out each night you play NBA!

394 MILLION push notifications sent to Android and iOS device

In a time where players are “resting” more than ever and late swap (for NBA) has been removed, our alerts team has had a workout in 2016. If you currently do not have our DFS Alerts app downloaded on your phone, what are you waiting for? Stop getting beat by the dreaded late scratch in 2017!

7 RotoGrinders members won a prize of $1,000,000 or more

A massive congrats to the following members, who took down a prize of at least 1 million dollars this year: Alsmizzle, bidle, cashmonet, Coree27, escot4, jakz101, and Mallen21 (2x)

364,871 Forum posts

Our forums are a gathering place for people to discuss strategy, industry events, ask questions, propose new ideas and more. We love offering a place where people who love this great game of DFS can help each other improve. If you have not joined in on the discussion, you really should.

75,375,788 minutes of strategy videos viewed

No, that is not a typo. In 2016, we had almost 76 million minutes of video content watched! Not only did we produce tons of articles, we also produce a large supply of videos. From our GrindersLive shows to Beermakersfan’s Six-Pack videos and everything in between, this stat really stood off the page to us.

13,148,947 contest results aggregated in our Tournament Player of the Year race

Our Grinders Rankings/TPOY race lie at the heart of our community. We’ve tracked more than 13 million contest results across 25,865 unique tournaments across the industry. But, at the end of the day, there can be only one, true champion! Stay tuned for our TPOY announcement next month.

Awe-inspiring amounts of lineups generated in our Lineup Builder

Our Lineup Builder and Optimizer is not only one of our most popular tools, but also one of our most powerful. So we were pretty wowed to see that members generated multiple lineups 2,298,790 times, while using the optimizer feature 5,568,930 times!

173,422 total community members

Last but not least — the most important number of 2016 was that the RotoGrinders community surpassed 173,000 members in size. Without all of you, we would not be the site we are. Regardless of all the other stats and accomplishments we’ve shared above, we are PROUD to be a part of your daily fantasy adventures, so allow us to sincerely say THANK YOU! We value each and every one one of our members and appreciate you spending time with us on a daily basis.

As 2016 comes to an end, we have plenty to be excited about moving into 2017 and thinking about the future of the Daily Fantasy Sports industry. We can’t wait to share it with you as we continue to improve as the number #1 resource for all DFS players!

Thanks for all the hard work! My 2016 was not nearly as good as my 2015 but that had more to do with injury bugs and under-performing players in good match-ups. The information and strategy were great! Look forward to a profitable 2017 for both myself and all my fellow Grinders!
