CheeseIsGood's Million Dollar Musings: Tuesday, April 13th

What did Robin say to Batman when they walked into the pizzeria on half-price beer night? Holy Calzone Batman, that’s a lot of pitchers!

TUESDAY NIGHT PITCHING

This slate is absolutely loaded with pitching to a ridiculous extent. With the exception of poor Antonio Senzatela, I can make a case for every single pitcher on this entire slate. I am going to end up leaving a lot of very good pitchers out of my pool tonight. Kind of like our local public pool, safety first, we just can’t have everyone swimming at the same time.

This is how I’m going to break things down for tonight. I’m going to have just two tiers with 12 total pitchers. This leaves out guys like Kyle Hendricks, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Jameson Taillon, Pablo Lopez, Kyle Gibson, Danny Duffy and Matt Boyd. Plus, I’m going to gloss over a few of these top 12 pitchers in an effort to narrow things down as much as possible. However, just like we saw last night with the weaker group of mid-tier pitchers, once we get past the top three, everyone is close, and if your opinion differs from mine, you should not be concerned.

THREE ACES AMONG ACES

Trevor Bauer vs Colorado
Shane Bieber at Chicago White Sox
Lucas Giolito vs Cleveland

NINE MORE WITH SOMETHING TO LOVE

Brandon Woodruff vs Chicago Cubs
Stephen Strasburg at St. Louis
Kevin Gausman vs Cincinnati
Jake Odorizzi vs Detroit
Max Fried vs Miami
Ryan Yarbrough vs Texas
Luis Castillo at San Francisco
Jack Flaherty vs Washington
Dylan Bundy at Kansas City

I’ve heard that this Joe Altuve guy is pretty good against lefties, but still no lefty masher according to Carty.

I always look forward to your daily article I was thinking the same thing I can not play 100% Dodgers but looking elsewhere is basically a crap shoot so I will play some vomit stacks with aces and jam as many good hitters as I can the question I have is in tournaments today would you get off the 5 man builds and play some small stacks? Typically I play 5 man stacks on DK Thanks again

Personally, I’m leaning heavier to 5-man stacks today. The reason is that the good bats are so hard to identify, I don’t feel like I can hit 3-4 mini stacks in the same lineup.

Thanks makes a lot of sense, with so much good pitching it is going to be interesting to see who ends up having a rough time on the mound.

How many times have you seen an avg pitcher opposite of an ‘ace’ have a career game? I know you’ve seen it before Dave…for you not to have some Senzi in your MME would be a travesty to true MME’rs everywhere! Just saying. Great article as always I will be jamming two studs again tonight ….only had three lineups but managed a 190 with the top two pitchers…that took some creativity and some Hgashioka

  • artsemis

LineupHQ is a bit of a mess today unfortunately – it’s not filtering out double headers and those games even have the wrong start times in there. It’s confusing.

  • rhallone

cliff note : value batter prices still pretty soft…I will have some owings if he cracks the lineup…he’s a fiery wirey guy for a juicy matchup

  • rhallone

artsemis you know how to remove those games? you can click them out of the projections so those players are excluded…slide to the right on the game scroll bar on the top right and click on the Balt/Sea game so it isnt highlighted under Player pool and they’ll be gone after you click EXCLUDE FILTERED. Hope that helps

    Here’s my question, Cheese.

They made a sports trivial pursuit game, did you ever buy it.

If there weren’t so many great pitchers on this slate, sure. But I cant find a reason in the world to play the lowest strikeout pitcher who is so far below the rest of the field he’s in his own tier of awfulness. He may pitch great, but even if he does, he’s unlikely to have enough strikeouts to be DFS relevant on this slate.

  • malthus80

OK Cheese…I would have bet my yearly income that I would never see the word “jabronis” in a DFS article. Well done.
