College Football DFS Late Slate Breakdown: Week 10
A top-ranked college football DFS player going back to the Daily Joust and DraftStreet days, Andy Smith (a25smith) is here to walk you through the late Draftkings slate with a game-by-game preview.
We’re back for Week 10, as we hit the home stretch of the season, and it’s a really fun slate. The headliner is the Washington / USC game with an insane 76 total, but we also get the always fun LSU / Alabama matchup. I’m going to stick with the new format of my favorite options at QB, RB, and WR for another week, so let’s get into it.
College Football DFS: Top DraftKings Picks for the Week 10 Late Slate
Quarterback
Core Plays
Caleb Williams $10,700
This Washington / USC game looks like a DFS goldmine with a total sitting at 76.5, so it’s clearly a game that we want exposure to. The issue is that both QBs are above $10,000, and some of the other pieces are expensive, so it is tougher to stack. I have no issue whatsoever with Michael Penix, and I’ll have some exposure in GPPs, but I’m going with Caleb as my preferred QB from this game. Penix gets the better matchup against the horrible USC defense, but he’s not a threat with his legs, so I think Caleb has the higher ceiling with 9 rushing TDs on the season. While Washington is not as bad as USC defensively, they have not been good against the pass, allowing 264.6 passing YPG (111th). Stanford threw for 367 yards last week, while Cal QBs combined for 363 passing yards, and Bo Nix threw for 337 yards, so it is a plus matchup for the USC passing game.
Rocco Becht, $5,300
If you’re playing cash games, then Mike Wright is probably the safer option in the sub-$6,000 range as the cheap QB2 to help squeeze in the USC / Washington options. However, I’m just playing GPPs, and I prefer the game environment in the KU / ISU game over the Mississippi State / Kentucky game, so I’m sliding my ownership in favor of Becht. Every Kansas game has produced a total of at least 54 points this season, with their last two games producing 61 and 71 total points. Iowa State is actually installed as slight favorites over a ranked KU team that is coming off a huge win over OU. KU has the big win hangover potential here, and with that line, Vegas is begging you to roll with the ranked KU team getting points. Those factors have me interested in ISU here (along with the fact that the entire team is dirt cheap), and KU has had issues defensively at times this year. Becht has been very up and down as a freshman, as he underwhelmed recently against Baylor and TCU, but he has also produced great games for this price against Cincinnati and Oklahoma State. I’m going to trust Vegas here. With ISU favored along with a team total of almost 28 points, I will tilt my ownership towards Becht over Wright as my preferred cheap QB play.
