FanDuel Online Sportsbook Company Information

Founded in 2009, FanDuel is the second largest Daily Fantasy Sports service in the country behind rival DraftKings. Slowly building funding through investments from large corporations including Comcast, NBC Sports and other large investment firms, they built a strong reputation in the Daily Fantasy Sports world. At one point, they almost merged with DraftKings, but the FTC threatened to declare them a monopoly and the agreement was terminated.

In an effort to become a household name and land exclusive advertising deals, FanDuel has partnered with 15 NFL teams and 16 NBA teams. In May 2018, they announced a multi-year expansion making them partners with the WNBA which includes the right to stream all WNBA games on their website.

Shortly after the Supreme Court ruling in May 2018 declaring the current sports betting ban unconstitutional, FanDuel was acquired by British Bookmaker, Paddy Power Betfair, and did not waste anytime announcing its intention to expand beyond Daily Fantasy Sports into legal sports betting. The deal was finalized on July 11, 2018, and the New York-based company was renamed FanDuel Group. They launched their online sportsbook on September 7, 2018, just days before the start of the 2018 NFL season.
