MLB DFS Picks: DraftKings & FanDuel Expert Survey for Tuesday, April 2nd

Who is your top overall hitter (when considering price, matchup, projected ownership, etc.) on the board and why?

CheeseIsGood: Christian Walker – Nestor Cortes has some talent, but against righties, he’s very close to just an average strikeout pitcher who gets hit hard and in the air. In 2023, he allowed a .206 ISO, while Walker had a massive .303 ISO with just 17.6% K against LHP. I don’t expect Arizona to pick up much ownership at all, and their righty power bats have as much upside as anyone.

squirrelpatrol: Ronald Acuna – Not much stands out on this slate, but one thing that does catch the eye is that Atlanta is the only team on the board with an implied run total over 4.7 runs, with a 5.4 implied run total significantly higher than any other team. Acuna is the hitter I’m most likely to pay up for, with the platoon advantage, a leadoff hitting slot that could get him an extra plate appearance, top-10 HR odds, and the best odds for a SB on the board tonight.

stevietpfl: Christian Walker – Walker was one of the best hitters in baseball against left-handed pitching last season. He had a .303 ISO with a .385 wOBA against left-handed pitching last season. He also had a 60% hard-hit rate with a 15.2%-barrel rate. Cortes struggled in Spring Training and had a rocky first start against Houston. This is one of the best hitting conditions on the slate, and I like the Arizona stack tonight.

boggslite: Kyle Tucker – One of the best pure hitters in all of baseball, Tucker will look to improve upon his 2-homer performance last night against a righty in Jose Berrios, who has historically struggled against lefties. Also capable of stealing bases, Tucker makes for a solid overall option with the roof likely open in Houston tonight.

ebeimfohr: Christopher Morel – He should garner plenty of ownership, but on a slate with few excellent hitter spots, Morel really stands out. From 2023 through the start of this season, he’s posted a .418 xwOBA and .333 xISO against LHP. He draws a matchup with Kyle Freeland, who struggles with righties and also does not generate many strikeouts, which is Morel’s main flaw. The hitting environment is not great, but the matchup for Morel really stands out.
