Core Plays LIVE: NBA DFS Picks for Saturday, March 7th

Gilgeous-Alexander of the Thunder

A daily fantasy sports OG, Notorious has been roaming the DFS streets ever since they were invented. He has racked up multiple live final seats and several six-figure tournament wins in his DFS career. On weekends, Taylor Smith takes the reins. So, who better to walk you through the madness of NBA DFS slates on DraftKings and FanDuel? Core Plays LIVE will zoom out on the slate as a whole, zoom in on the best plays, and constantly update as news breaks. Whether you are diving into the slate 5 hours before it starts or 5 minutes before it starts, you’ve come to the right place.

Happy Saturday! My wife and I have been binging The Traitors over the past few weeks. I didn’t know what we were getting into, but I can now say with the utmost confidence that this is the pinnacle of reality television. It is incredibly addicting. That Boston Rob sure is a smooth operator. Easily the most conniving scoundrel that town has ever produced, which is saying something.

Anyway, this is a basketball article. We’re looking at 5 games on the main slate, and 3 of those games feature point spreads of at least 10 points. Fantastic! I’ll also note the slate tips off at 6 PM ET, an hour earlier than usual. I’ll break it all down below, and I’ll also be on Crunch Time with TJ and Chief at 5 PM ET for the hour leading up to lock.

Let’s go!

Slate Overview

News Updates

Here is where I’ll provide news updates in the run-up to lock.

Team Previews

Claxton of the Nets

Brooklyn Nets (at DET)

We’ll kick things off with the Nets – the NBA’s most wayward franchise – who get a brutal draw on the road in Detroit tonight. Not only are the Nets 14.5-point underdogs with a paltry 100-point team total, but they’ll also be without Egor Demin again tonight. There is actually another game with a 14.5-point spread, so the Nets aren’t even alone as the slate’s biggest dogs. They do, however, have the lowest total on the board.

The Pistons are the NBA’s 2nd-ranked defense, while the Nets are dead last in offensive rating. Nobody projects well. You can always make GPP cases for Michael Porter Jr. and/or Nic Claxton at low ownership. I suppose MPJ’s matchup gets a little better with Ausar Thompson absent from the Pistons’ lineup, but Porter’s minutes had been trending down before a huge outing in his last game. Brooklyn is a max-1 team for me tonight in tournaments, and I’d prefer to pass on them entirely. The only way I’ll get to anyone here is in a larger-field set of lineups.
