On Friday evening, the Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves will play Game 2 of this year’s Western Conference Finals. Tip-off is set for 8:30 PM ET on TNT.

After stealing Game 1 on the road, Luka Doncic and the Mavericks are in a golden position to take a commanding 2-0 series lead before heading back home for Game 3. Anthony Edwards and the Timberwolves will be looking to protect home court and stay competitive in this series.

NBA Player Props Today – Friday, May 24, 2024

Luka Doncic Over/Under 28.5 Points
Anthony Edwards Over/Under 27.5 Points
Karl-Anthony Towns Over/Under 20.5 Points

Luka Doncic Over/Under 28.5 Points

If Game 1 was any indication of what to expect from Doncic throughout the rest of the Western Conference Finals, we learned that he’s going to be extremely aggressive looking for his shot. On Wednesday, Doncic tied a playoff-high with 26 shot attempts, scoring 33 points in an upset victory on the road.

In road contests during the postseason, Doncic has continued to be aggressive on the offensive end of the floor, scoring at least 32 points in all 3 road games against the Clippers and at least 29 points in 2 of his 3 road games against the Thunder.

There is little reason to expect much different from him in tonight’s Game 2 against the Timberwolves.

Anthony Edwards Over/Under 27.5 Points

Edwards, recently anointed as the second coming of Michael Jordan, enters play on Friday having scored fewer than 20 points in 3 of his last 4 games, with the exception being a 27-point performance in Game 6 against the Nuggets.

In the series opener against the Mavericks, Edwards was the primary defender on Kyrie Irving for a significant number of possessions – an exhausting task. It’s possible that Edwards expending all that energy on the defensive end of the floor led to him taking only 16 shots.

Returning to the floor on only one day of rest for Game 2 isn’t exactly a recipe for a bounce-back in the scoring department unless he finds an easier defensive assignment.

Karl-Anthony Towns Over/Under 20.5 Points

Towns scored only 16 points in his team’s Game 1 loss to Dallas, but he attempted a team-high 20 shots. After scoring 20+ points in 4 of Minnesota’s 7 games against Denver in the previous round, there is certainly proof of concept for Towns to reach this market number on Friday if he is more efficient with his scoring opportunities.

Towns has played as many as 39 minutes in recent weeks, and he’s played at least 36 minutes in each of his team’s recent competitive games. Towns has scored 21+ points in 18 of 27 games this season in which he’s played at least 35 minutes. The math makes sense here to target an over.
