Outlaw Tour DFS Golf: Arrowhead Classic Round 1 Breakdown

Top-ranked grinder, Notorious, breaks down his favorite daily fantasy golf plays at various salary ranges for the Arrowhead Classic. Who should you be building around? Find out below.

Outlaw Tour – Arrowhead Classic

In case you missed out on the thrilling two showdown rounds of golf last week, let me give a quick introduction to the Outlaw Tour. Thanks to the fact that Arizona deemed golf courses an “essential business,” this mini tour is allowed to continue. The golfers have to buy their way into the tournaments, they play in threesomes, there are no rakes in the bunkers (lift and place option), and they can’t pull out the flagsticks. The fields are much smaller than we typically see on the PGA Tour and there isn’t much in the way of live scoring. Scores are updated after each nine holes of play, which does create a fun little sweat mid-round rather than waiting until play is completed (DraftKings doesn’t update fantasy scoring until after the round).

The tournament on tap this week is the Arrowhead Classic, which will be played at the Arrowhead Country Club. There are a total of 62 golfers set to tee it up in Glendale, Arizona this week. While we don’t know enough about these golfers to apply an actual course fit, I figured I would give a quick breakdown of the course anyway. It is a Par 72 (four par fives) that measures 7,001 yards. It features generous rolling fairways and large greens. There are a total of 63 bunkers on the property and 12 scenic lakes. For those wondering, it has 4.3 stars (out of five) on Google.

It looks like there will only be contests for each round rather than for the entire tournament. While this takes the cut sweat out of the equation, we certainly can’t complain about having DFS golf back in our lives. Given how small this tour is compared to the PGA Tour or European Tour, the size of the contests are pretty incredible for the first round of an Outlaw Tour event. Golfers, Odds, & Salaries

Given the fact that we know very little about these golfers, we can lean heavily on the betting markets and on local knowledge/experience. I used those to my advantage last week and it sounds like a few of you had success with the picks in the third and final round of the Orange Tree Classic. The table below features five columns — Golfer, Salary, Odds, Odds +/-, and Residence. The odds columns lists each golfer’s outright odds at winning the tournament, while the Golfer, Salary, and Residence columns are straightforward. The Odds +/- column takes the rank of each golfer in the outright market and compares that to their salary rank on DraftKings. The higher the number, the better value they offer on DraftKings compared to their outright odds. This column is going to drive ownership (especially in round one), so keep that in mind for tournaments.
