Tournament and Course Notes for the TOUR Championship
- We have arrived at the PGA TOUR finale
- The TOUR Championship will play differently this year, as the TOUR finally decided to go away from the starting strokes
- This means even the golfers who barely made it into East Lake have a chance to win the TOUR Championship
- This makes the event more fun to watch, easier to handicap, and it opens up more options for DFS
- The course is a Par 70 that measures over 7,400 yards, which means it’s quite long
- The fairways here are narrow, yet golfers hit driver on 86% of tee shots here last year
- Good drivers of the ball (combination of distance and accuracy) will have a huge advantage
- The greens here are average in size (6,200 square feet) and feature bermudagrass
- The greens are firm, they are fast, and they are tough to hit in regulation (66% GIR rate in 2024)
- We’ve seen a lot of good iron players dominate here over the years, so bump up Strokes Gained: Approach
- With only 30 golfers in the field this week, don’t hesitate to leave salary on the table in your lineups
What to Look For
- Strokes Gained: Approach
- Strokes Gained: Off the Tee (or Total Driving)
- Bogey Avoidance
- Strokes Gained: Around the Green
- Strokes Gained on Long Par 70s
- Strokes Gained on Driver-Heavy Courses
