Sharp Plays from SuperContest Leaders Revealed: Week 4

The Las Vegas SuperContest is regarded by many as the world’s preeminent sports betting competition. With its eighth consecutive record-setting year in 2018 with 3,123 entries and an enormous first-place prize of $1.422 million, we’re not going to be ones to disagree. In addition to providing sports bettors incredible bang for their buck with plenty of big prizes up for grabs, the SuperContest provides sports bettors everywhere with a unique opportunity to gain an edge by tailing the contest’s top contestants.

Every week during football season, the deadline to enter weekly SuperContest picks hits and within a few hours the picks for every single contestant are released to the public. These are available for viewing for everyone, so you can take a look at the leaderboard, so who the top players are and their picks, and then decide if you want to follow them to the betting window and place a bet for yourself. It’s essentially a free tout service without any of the extra B.S.

Most professional sports bettors will tell you that your goal is to hit 55% winners, especially in football. From 2013 to 2017, 26 contestants have finished with a winning percentage of 65% or higher. That’s really, really good by betting standards and you could have tailed along with each of these picks, week in and week out, to give yourself an edge.

Do know the lines mentioned in this article are contest lines dedicated to the Las Vegas SuperContest. The lines are put out by Westgate every Wednesday afternoon and are locked. Unlike regular sports betting lines that can change, the contest lines are locked in. This can work against you in cases where you may have missed out on the value a line presented, but it can also work for you if a line has moved in your favor. Certainly something to keep an eye on.

Tailing the Leaders

Five teams were tied for first place entering Week 4. Those five were “TOOFDOC,” “STR8OUTTADURANGO,” “FINALLY 2019,” “SHABOOM,” and “BBMUSICFACTORY.” Both TOOFDOC and STR8OUTTADURANGO elected to take the Thursday game on their cards this week, and both selected the Minnesota Vikings (+7) for a push. Other than that, there are a handful of picks you can tail.

TOOFDOC: Vikings (+7), Texans (+1), Cowboys (-3), Jaguars (-7.5), Giants (+3.5)

STR8OUTTADURANGO: Vikings (+7), Bengals (+5), Bears (-3), Eagles (-4), Seahawks (-3)

FINALLY 2019: Texans (+1), Packers (-9.5), Chargers (-10), Giants (+3.5), Broncos (+5)

SHABOOM: Texans (+1), Bengals (+5), Cowboys (-3), Raiders (-2.5), Broncos (+5)

BBMUSICFACTORY: Bengals (+5), Cowboys (-3), Bears (-3), Giants (+3.5), Broncos (+5)

These five contestants are a combined 43-5-2 when selecting underdogs, making for greater confidence if you’re going to tail any picks of theirs that are underdogs. The good thing for those looking to tail is, there are plenty of underdogs for you to tail from these leaders.

The most popular underdogs from the five leaders are the Bengals (+5), Broncos (+5), Texans (+1), and Giants (+3.5). Each of these picks were made three times among the five leaders. You might be hard pressed to find the same lines for the Bengals and Broncos still out there, as they seem to have shifted such that the two dogs aren’t receiving as many points. Most sportsbooks look to still have the same lines for the Texans and Giants.

If you want to break these four picks out further, you can look at the record of the five leaders when taking road underdogs or home underdogs. When picking road dogs, the five are a combined 28-5-2. When taking home dogs, they’re 15-0.
