Sports Card Investing Targets - August 24th NBA Players To Buy Now

The first round of the playoffs are rolling along. As expected, some players prices are going up, what a series Luka is having so far, and some are going down or leveling off. This will continue as the 1st round matchups are decided and we move into the later stages of the playoffs. There will be money to be made many different ways. Today I’m going to talk about two players who are on the decline but are also starting to see their prices stabilize.

Michael Porter Jr. – Michael Porter Jr. started bubble play on an incredible hot streak. He posted multiple double doubles and high scoring games. He has cooled off some as the playoffs having gotten going and the Nuggets are down 3-1 to the Jazz. If the Nuggets are eliminated then I will be buying even more Porter Jr. than I am now. Especially lower end sets like Hoops and Donruss as you can get them at a fraction of the price of Prizm. I would imagine that Malone would be shown the door if the Nuggets are eliminated and the new coach would likely be selected to figure out how to pair and develop Jokic and Porter Jr together. This kind of news and hire would lead to more excited about Porter Jr and his prices will shoot right back up. We’ve seen it before and we will see it again.

Zion Williamson – The Pelicans had the easiest path to the 8th seed and they came out and played terrible. Zion’s minutes were limited and the rest of the team played no defense and their shooting was terrible. Alvin Gentry was shown the door and the next coach is likely to be a younger more modern style coach that will have the Pels and Zion flying up and down the court. Zion’s prices have stabilized after several weeks of downward movement with his Prizm base PSA 10 still sitting around $550. I would be surprised if that card fell below $500 this offseason as I believe Zion mania will start to ramp back up as soon as this season’s champion is crowned. It’s just going to take a good head coaching hire and a viral picture or video of Zion looking slimmed down, dunking in a workout. The hype train will get rolling again, don’t worry. Oh yea, Zion was also pretty darn good when he was able to actually be on the court and play extended minutes. We forget that Zion is still only 20 years old and one of the best prospects since Lebron.
