Kevin Durant – I think most of us can agree that Lebron and KD are the two best players of this generation. Some will even go as far as saying KD is the best pure scorer ever and they wouldn’t be laughed at for saying so. Durant’s cards have for sure risen during the explosion of the sports card industry over the last 8-10 months but not at the rate of other stars like Lebron and Giannis. It may be an 18 month layoff for Durant depending when next season starts. Factor in the type of injury, his age and some people are probably just afraid to invest in Durant. This is a mistake in my opinion and when we compare some of Durant’s prices to Lebron’s prices there is a significant gap. You can still purchase Durant’s Topps base rookie for under $50 raw while Lebron’s Topps base sell for $650. This is too big of a gap and the Durant cards will eventually shrink that gap. I believe that gap will shrink even if Durant doesn’t come back as the same player he was before injury. He is a no doubt hall of famer, all time great player who is worth parking some of your money into long term.

Donovan Mitchell – I really like Donovan Mitchell. I’ve written him up as a buy before and talked about him on Sports Card Grinders. However, some of his prices have doubled in the last two weeks because of his strong play in round one. At the time of writing this the Nuggets have just come back from a 3-1 deficit to force game 7. The Nuggets are the better team with all of the momentum now. Even if the Jazz do win this series then their next matchup would be with the Clippers and I just don’t see them having a chance in that series. I wouldn’t sell off all of your Mitchell but now is probably a good time to bank some of those profits and re-invest into other players. Throw those profits at a Durant card or a Lebron card. You could even take a gamble and buy up some larger lots of a lower end rookie that you like from this class. Either way, don’t be afraid to take advantage of guaranteed profits if you’re in that situation.
