How Do Event Contracts Work at DraftKings Predictions?
You buy a Yes or No position on a stated outcome at a price between $0 and $1, and it settles at $1 if you’re right or $0 if you’re wrong.
Participants can take positions on sports outcomes and financial events. Here’s a closer look at how that works.
Sports Event Contracts Pricing
At DraftKings Predictions, unlike in gambling, you are not wagering on outcomes specifically; you are speculating on the likelihood of an event outcome being yes or no in the way you predict.
The contract price is a percentage assessment that indicates the likelihood of the outcome happening, which is determined by the trades already placed on the event.
For instance, consider this line for the 49ers vs. Colts NFL game. If you tap on the 49ers spread, your trade slip will open and let you predict either Yes or No to the 49ers covering the spread.
If you think the 49ers will cover the spread, you’d buy the Yes contract listed at $.50. You can choose to buy in Dollars or Shares.
A correct contract pays out $1, and you get $0 if your prediction is wrong. So, if you bought this 49ers Yes contract at $.50, you’d get a $.50 profit per contract (after fees) if they cover the spread.
DraftKings Predictions App Review
The DraftKings Predictions app is separate from other DraftKings platforms and is available for download on the App Store and Google Play Store.
It quickly garnered a 4.7/5 rating based on initial App Store reviews. The Google Play Store rating is lower (3.7/5), but here’s what RotoGrinders noticed based on our experience on the Apple app:
The muted forest green branding of DraftKings Predictions was a smart choice, as it distinguishes the predictions market from DraftKings’ other platforms.
Sports and finance markets currently share one tab group. Splitting them would make navigation faster.
The Trades page lets you view both open and settled trades, and the Rewards page makes promos easier to see than just scrolling through them in the Featured banner on the Home page.
Here’s what the process actually looked like for us.
Logging in took seconds, because we already had a DraftKings account β and that immediately surfaced the offer’s main limitation. The welcome offer is new-customer only, so if you already have a DraftKings login from the sportsbook, casino, Pick6, DFS, or Jackpocket, you can access Predictions instantly but you won’t qualify for the bonus.
Funding was quick. A $20 deposit through a saved payment method posted right away, with no hold before we could place an order.
On August 18 we took a Yes position on the Red Sox to win at 55Β’, sized at $10 β roughly 18 contracts. The market was quoted 54Β’ bid, 55Β’ ask: a one-cent spread on a visibly deep order book, which is about as tight as these markets get. Boston won and the contracts settled at $1.
What we recorded:

Our read is positive. The main limitation isn’t the app β it’s breadth: the market menu is thinner than the polish of the interface suggests, and it will need more sports and entertainment contracts to hold a regular user.

Yes! DraftKings Predictions is available and regulated. It’s partnered with Railbird, which has approval from the Commodity Futures Trading Commission.
Prediction markets ran informally online for years before federal regulation opened the category to licensed operators. The shift was recent enough that DraftKings didn’t register its first entity until July 2024 β and didn’t launch until December 2025.
