Best NFL Prediction Market Apps August 20, 2026 - RotoGrinders
NFL prediction markets let you buy and sell event contracts tied to football outcomes. On many platforms, a Yes contract trades between 1 cent and 99 cents, with the price acting as a rough market-implied probability. If you buy 10 contracts at 62 cents, for instance, they cost $6.20 before fees. If the outcome resolves Yes, they settle for $10 total. If it resolves No, they settle at $0.
Preseason NFL markets are already live, and the regular season opens September 9 with New England visiting Seattle at 8:20 p.m. ET.

How We Ranked the Best Prediction Market Apps for New Customers
NFL coverage comes first. We compared the current football boards, published fees, state availability, order types and settlement rules across the six prediction market apps. We also looked at trading volume or order-book depth where the platform makes that information available, since a long list of markets is less useful when there’s little activity around the price you want.
Welcome offers can break a close call, but they usually don’t drive the rankings. For NFL traders, market variety, cost and the ability to enter or leave a position at a reasonable price make way more of a difference.
Top Prediction Markets for NFL Trading
1. Polymarket: Best for NFL Market Variety
If you like comparing lots of angles on the same NFL game, Polymarket has the deepest menu of these six right now. Its August 20 Raiders-Texans and San Francisco-Chargers matchups each show 170 markets, while an August 5 platform update added 50 NFL market types. That stretches well beyond a winner, spread and total into halves, quarters, team totals, first-score outcomes and player props for passing, rushing, receiving and touchdowns.

2. FanDuel Predicts: Best for Existing FanDuel Users
FanDuel Predicts is our main pick for existing FanDuel users who want a smooth entry point into NFL prediction markets. You can use your existing FanDuel credentials, but keep in mind Predicts has its own wallet, so money in FanDuel Sportsbook, FanDuel Casino or FanDuel DFS doesn’t carry over.
The football menu covers the core categories most traders will recognize, and eligible positions can be sold before settlement.
One important caveat here: FanDuel Predicts is available nationwide, but sports event contracts are currently offered in 18 states.

3. Kalshi: Best for Order-Book Trading
Kalshi is made for you if you care about controlling your entry price. Its order book lets you take the price already available or place a limit order at the number you want. Say an NFL contract is offered at 58 cents but you only want it at 55. You can post 55 cents and wait instead of paying the higher price immediately.
That control comes with a tradeoff: limit orders aren’t guaranteed to fill. If nobody accepts 55 cents before the market closes, you don’t get the position. Kalshi also lists conference, division, playoff and season-long outcomes alongside individual NFL games.

4. Novig: Best Sports-Only Prediction Market
Novig is the one for you if you want a prediction market built entirely around sports. You’re not scrolling past politics, inflation or crypto markets to get to Sunday’s NFL games, so the board stays focused on the categories you came for.

5. DraftKings Predictions: Best for Existing Customers
DraftKings Predictions makes the most sense for someone who already spends time in the DraftKings app. It uses the existing DraftKings account system and sits inside the DraftKings Sportsbook and Casino app, so you don’t need another standalone app just to reach the prediction-market board.
NFL availability depends on location, so check the sports board before assuming the broader Predictions footprint applies to football.

6. ProphetX: Best for Setting Your Own Price
ProphetX is a good fit for NFL traders who want more control over the price they pay. You can take the current market price for a quicker fill or post your own price and wait for another trader to match it. Its sports-focused board also keeps the NFL and other major leagues front and center.

How to Choose an NFL Prediction Market App
Start with where you can actually use the app. Some platforms are available in a state but still restrict NFL contracts there, so check the sports board after your location is verified.
Then look at deposits and withdrawals. ACH is common, but support for debit cards, Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo and crypto varies by platform. If you plan to keep more than a small balance in the app, make sure you know how you’ll get that money back out.
The rest comes down to what you want to trade. Novig and ProphetX stay focused on sports, while broader platforms also list politics, crypto, economic data and other events. If you’re mainly there for football, the extra categories may not add much for you.
Fees, Liquidity and Early Exits
The posted trading fee isn’t the only cost to watch. The bid-ask spread is the gap between the highest price someone will pay and the lowest price someone will sell for. In other words, if buyers are at 47 cents and sellers are at 53 cents, buying immediately costs 53 cents. Turning around and selling at 47 cents would leave a six-cent loss per contract before any separate fee.
Liquidity, on the other hand, tells you how much buying and selling interest exists near the current price. High trading volume across an app doesn’t guarantee much activity in the specific contract you want, so check the orders sitting near the current price, especially if you may exit early.
Remember: thin markets and wide spreads can make an early sale costly even when the platform’s advertised fee is low.
NFL Event Contracts and How They Settle
NFL boards usually combine game markets with some mix of player props, futures, live markets and multi-leg contracts. The exact selection varies by app.
Before buying, read the exact contract wording and resolution source. A familiar market can handle an injury, postponement or stat correction differently from another platform, and the written rule determines the result. Check it before kickoff, not after a disputed stat lands in the fourth quarter.
Prediction Markets vs. Traditional Sportsbooks & DFS
Traditional sportsbooks set the odds for you, and their margin is built into those prices. Prediction markets work through buy and sell orders, so the price can move as traders change what they’re willing to pay.
That also changes how you get out of a position. On a prediction market, you can usually sell before settlement if the market is still open and there’s enough demand at your price. Sportsbook Cash Out works differently because the operator decides whether to offer it and how much it’ll pay.
DFS players may find the transition easier than they expect. If your projection has a receiver at 74 yards and the market is pricing a 70-plus-yard contract, you can compare your number with the contract price and decide whether the market looks too high or too low. The research is similar; the main adjustment is learning to read contract prices instead of sportsbook odds.

Are CFTC-Regulated Prediction Markets Legal?
The CFTC maintains that federal commodities law gives it exclusive jurisdiction over event contracts traded on registered derivatives exchanges. The Third Circuit agreed with that position in an April 6, 2026 ruling involving Kalshi and New Jersey.
Other states and courts have taken a different view. A Washington state judge granted an injunction blocking Kalshi’s event contracts in July, while New York’s attorney general sued Kalshi on July 31 after a federal judge had previously rejected Kalshi’s attempt to stop state gambling-law enforcement.
For users, that means access is still location-specific. An exchange can be federally regulated while a state challenges or restricts some of its products, and individual platforms can impose their own geographic limits. Check the current eligibility rules for the app and market you want before funding an account.

Trading NFL Prediction Markets Responsibly
Trading NFL contracts means putting real money at risk, and any position can lose its full purchase price. Set your budget before the slate starts and keep individual positions within a range youβre comfortable losing, especially in live markets where prices can move quickly.
Most platforms also offer tools such as deposit or trading limits, time-outs, self-exclusion and account history. Use them when theyβre helpful, and avoid adding to a position just because the price moved against you.
