Colin Kaepernick will start this week for 49ers

This was expected even after getting benched midway through a disastrous effort against the Bears on Sunday. It's a plus match up at home for the 49ers facing a Jets defense extremely vulnerable to the pass.

Colin Kaepernick to start at QB for 49ers this week

There had been talk that the 49ers would be making a switch to Kaepernick this week after Blaine Gabbert's continued struggles and that has now been confirmed as Head Coach Chip Kelly has announced that Kaepernick will get the start when San Francisco visits Buffalo. There is certainly upside to Kaepernick given his rushing ability and the fast-paced 49ers offense but it's also a high risk proposition. Torrey Smith gets an upgrade as Kaepernick has shown the ability to get the ball down the field.

Colin Kaepernick expected to start for 49ers next week

Jason Cole of Bleacher Report reported that Kaepernick is expected to start against the Bills Week 6. Earlier today, Chip Kelly said he'd be evaluating the whole starting lineup in the wake of their Thursday night loss to the Cardinals and their backup quarterback, Drew Stanton. Kelly has apparently been waiting for Kaepernick to be 100% as he's been dealing with a "dead arm." Blaine Gabbert has been pretty awful, averaging 170 yards per game while posting a 69.6 rating, and San Francisco finds themselves 1-4; they don't have much to lose by making the switch if Kaepernick's arm is healthy. It's definitely too early to tell if this will be an upgrade for the 49ers skill players. We'll keep an eye on this story as it develops.

Colin Kaepernick out for the season

The 49ers have placed Colin Kaepernick on the Injured Reserve list and his season is officially over. Kaepernick should not have been considered in the first place for DFS purposes with Blaine Gabbert (who is also not a DFS target) taking the starting job, and this puts an end to Kaepernick's season and possibly his career with the 49ers.

49ers still undecided on starting QB

Jim Tomsula is still undecided on who will get the nod at QB after the 49ers Week 10 bye. While Blaine Gabbert was able to lead San Francisco to a win over Atlanta yesterday, Tomsula was apparently only benching Kaepernick to give him a "one game breather." We may not have an answer on who will start until next week, but neither player is a DFS option regardless.
