Deron Williams Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Deron Williams (illness) will play Tuesday, as expected

Williams hasn't done much in his 12.2 minutes per game in the eastern conference finals; he's averaged 2.0 points, 1.3 rebounds, and 3.3 assists. Plus, he hasn't scored more than five points since Game 4 of the first round. If looking for a late swap, he isn't the strongest option. However, he could potentially benefit from another massive blowout. Williams picked up 17 minutes in Game 2, with eight coming after the starters checked out, and he turned them into 20.6 FD points. He's not much more than a dart throw at this point, but he may come with lower ownership than similarly priced options.

Deron Williams (illness) missed shootaround this morning; still expected to play tonight

However, he could potentially benefit from another massive blowout. Williams picked up 17 minutes in Game 2, with eight coming after the starters checked out, and he turned them into 20.6 FD points. He's not much more than a dart throw and the illness adds more risk, although it appears he'll be good to go tonight.

Kyrie Irving (rest) and Kevin Love (rest) ruled OUT tonight for Cavs; Tristan Thompson (thumb) will play

Irving and Love will join LeBron James on the sidelines tonight while Tristan Thompson will return from a four-game absence. Deron Williams and Channing Frye will presumably start in their absence. William lit the Heat up on Monday for 35 points while grabbing seven rebounds and contributing nine assists. He'll be a nice value play once again with the Big Three out. Frye is also a solid pick, he's produced at least 24.1 FD points in each of the past four games.

LeBron James OUT for Cleveland tonight; Kyrie Irving questionable and Tristan Thompson probable

James was expected to pick out Cleveland's season finale and Irving being listed as questionable is not surprising as there were reports that he might play tonight. If he doesn't go, Deron Williams would again be a top point guard option after going off in Irving's place last game out. Even if Irving does play, Williams is viable given the fact that Irving will likely play limited minutes. Thompson is probable and expected to play for Cleveland tonight but is not a viable DFS option.

Cavs will start Williams, Smith, Shumpert, Frye, Thompson tonight; Derrick Williams (quad) available off the bench

James, Irving, and Love will all be rested and won't play in tonight's game against the Los Angeles Clippers despite never appearing on the Cavaliers' injury report at any point throughout the day. Unfortunately for those that rostered any member of the big three on the main slate, this news first broke just minutes after lock. This Cavaliers will roll with a starting lineup of Deron Williams, J.R. Smith, Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye, and Tristan Thompson, which obviously means that Shumpert will, in fact, play after previously being considered questionable. Additionally, Derrick Williams will be available to play off the bench after missing one game with a quad contusion. Any time the big three sit for rest, a case can be made for rostering any member of the newly assembled starting five, and tonight is no different, though the last time LeBron, Irving, and Love sat out, no player on Cleveland so more than 28 minutes of action.

J.R. Smith misses shootaround; unlikely to play tonight

We weren't really expecting him to play today anyway but the team sent him back to the hotel with an illness and it seems very unlikely that he will play tonight against the Pelicans. Kyle Korver has also been ruled out which means Deron Williams should see a boost in playing time - he is an intriguing, but high-risk option tonight.

Deron Williams to make Cleveland Cavaliers debut tonight

The recently signed point guard will make his Cleveland debut tonight against the Celtics, backing up Kyrie Irving. He won't be a viable DFS option immediately but stay tuned for situations where Irving gets a night off.

LeBron James (illness) and Kyle Korver (knee) both playing tonight

James and Korver will both play in tonight's game against the Milwaukee Bucks after previously being listed as questionable on the Cavaliers' injury report due to their respective ailments. LeBron had been forced to miss game prior due to the same illness but will presumably start and play his normal allotment of minutes in Monday's contest. Given the uncertainty of how LeBron perform while dealing with the aforementioned illness, he is better reserved as a tournament option on tonight's slate against a Milwaukee squad that ranks 20th or worse in DvP against opposing small and power forwards.

Deron Williams will sign with Cleveland

Williams cleared waivers Saturday and immediately informed the Cavs that he would be signing with them. He'll serve as Kyrie Irving's backup, so he may not have too much fantasy value. It's possible they work him in aside Irving in certain lineups. Williams may be available to play on Monday when the Cavs host the Bucks.

Deron Williams officially waived by the Dallas Mavericks

Williams has been waived by Dallas and is expected to head to Cleveland. The Cavs were in search of a player like Williams and he should fit in seamlessly behind Kyrie Irving. Deron Williams will obviously not be available for tonight's game.
