Jared Cook Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

LAC TE Jared Cook activated from COVID list

Jared Cook has been activated from the COVID list ahead of Sunday night's game against the Las Vegas Raiders. Cook is expected to return to his role as the primary tight end for the Chargers and will need to be considered on the showdown slate due to his expected volume in a high-powered offense.

LAC TE Jared Cook placed on COVID list

Jared Cook has been placed on the COVID list ahead of the Chargers matchup against the Denver Broncos this Sunday. With Cook out, the tight end snaps will likely be split between Stephen Anderson and Tre' McKitty with Anderson projected to be the better play. Anderson can be considered as a punt option in DFS contests.

LAC RB Austin Ekeler, WR Mike Williams, TE Jared Cook, and TE Donald Parham Jr. all returned to practice Tuesday

Austin Ekeler, Mike Williams, Jared Cook, and Donald Parham Jr. all returned to practice Tuesday ahead of the Chargers Thursday night matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs. With a short week it is likely that all of these players were just taking an extra day to rest up before an important divisional contest. Ekeler should remain in his normal role as the lead back for Los Angeles while also playing an important role in the passing game. Mike Williams will return to his complimentary role opposite Keenan Allen (activated off the COVID list earlier today). Jared Cook should continue to see the bulk of the tight end work with Donald Parham available to back him up. Both Cook and Parham can be considered on the showdown slate as they both have touchdown upside.

Jared Cook (groin) officially active Monday night

Cook was limited in all three practices this week, but he's officially been upgraded from questionable and will be active for Monday night's Week 5 matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers despite dealing with a groin injury that forced him to miss one game. The Saints surprisingly made rookie Adam Trautman a healthy inactive for tonight's contest, so they'll be left with Cook, Josh Hill, Stephen Anderson, and Taysom Hill to some extent at the tight end position this evening. New Orleans will also be without Michael Thomas for yet another week, but this time for disciplinary reasons stemming from an incident in practice, so Tre'Quan Smith, Emmanuel Sanders, and some combination of Bennie Fowler and Marquez Callaway will make up the wide receivers corps with their All-Pro wideout inactive.

Michael Thomas ruled out for Monday

The Saints have reportedly ruled Michael Thomas out for Monday night. This is a bit surprising, as he was trending towards returning, but instead he will miss his fourth straight game. Tre'Quan Smith, Emmanuel Sanders and Alvin Kamara will all continue to see increased targets. Jared Cook also has a chance to return after missing Week 4, and would see a boost in targets from Thomas being out.

Michael Thomas, Jared Cook officially questionable for Monday

Both Michael Thomas and Jared Cook are officially listed as questionable for the Saints, with both having a fairly good shot at playing. The Saints have been careful about bringing Thomas back, as he hasn't played since Week 1. Given the caution they've shown, it is also likely that Thomas will be near 100% if he does return.

Michael Thomas (ankle) and Jared Cook (groin) won't play Sunday

Thomas was limited in practice this week, but he's still being held out an additional game and will be inactive for Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Detroit Lions due to a high ankle sprain that's now forced him to three two games. This is obviously a devasting blow to the Saints offense, and with Thomas unavailable, it elevates Emmanuel Sanders Tre'Quan Smith to the de facto top wide receivers for Drew Brees, while Alvin Kamara also should maintain his elevated market share of the Saints' targets out of the backfield and occasionally from the slot. As for Cook, he was unable to participate in practice all three days following his exit from last Sunday night's loss with a groin injury, and in his absence, rookie Adam Trautman should see an increased role in the offense after accumulating two targets on a 52% snap rate in the Saints' Week 3 contest.

Michael Thomas (ankle) practices again Thursday; Jared Cook (groin) DNP

Thomas was limited in practice for a second straight day, and he appears to be on track to return to the field in Sunday's Week 4 matchup against the Detroit Lions after missing two games due to a high ankle sprain. Thomas doesn't necessarily need to get in a full practice on Friday to be cleared to play, but it would certainly go a long way in cementing his health status for this upcoming weekend. Obviously, if he's able to suit up without any significant limitations, his presence in the wide receiver corps is enough to remove Emmanuel Sanders and Tre'Quan Smith from consideration in daily fantasy formats. As for Cook, he was unable to participate in practice once again following his exit from Sunday night's loss with a groin injury, and in the seemingly likely event he is inactive, rookie Adam Trautman should see an increased role in the offense after accumulating two targets on a 52% snap rate in the Saints' Week 3 contest.

Jared Cook (Concussion) is Active Tonight for Saints

As expected, Cook is active tonight for the Saints. The TE has been on a roll, totaling 26 catches for 443 yards and 6 TDs over his past seven games. He left the Saints' last game with a concussion, only played eight offensive snaps, and still finished with 64 yards and 2 TDs.

Saints TE Jared Cook (Concussion) is Expected to Play on Monday Night Against the Colts

Cook, who suffered a concussion on his second touchdown reception last weekend vs. the 49ers, is likely to take the field on Monday night. We have him projected for a 19% target share against an average Colts' pass defense. Cook is viable for Showdown tournaments on Monday night.
