Josh McCown Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

QB Sam Darnold practices in full again on Thursday

The rookie QB will start in Week 14 but his timing isn't great as the Jets go on the road for a brutal matchup against Buffalo who boasts one of the best passing defenses in the league and already beat the Jets 41-10 earlier this season. With an implied 17-point team total and a limited Robby Anderson, Darnold is an easy avoid while the Bills D/ST is one of the top plays at the position this week.

Sam Darnold says the plan for him is to play Sunday

Sam Darnold said in a radio interview Wednesday that the plan for him is to play Sunday. That's more or less been expected dating back to last week, so this isn't much of a surprise. The Jets passing attack is not a recommended place to look for DFS options in a match-up with the Bills in what figures to be a low-scoring game.

Josh McCown will start today for the Jets

As expected Josh McCown will start today for the Jets. Sam Darnold will wait another week to return to the field. McCown and The Jets have a tough matchup vs The Bills today and with an implied team total under 16 points, it's very easy to steer clear of this offense.

QB Sam Darnold and WR Robby Anderson listed as questionable for Sunday

Darnold got in limited practices all week while Josh McCown was removed from the injury report on Friday so it's still unclear which QB will start on Sunday. Regardless, the Jets offense is only implied for 16 points at Tennessee this week and may be without WR Robby Anderson so both QB's should be avoided. Anderson is down to $3,500 on DraftKings and should be in tournament consideration at that price if he plays, particularly if McCown starts.

QBs Sam Darnold (foot) and Josh McCown (back, hand) both limited in practice Wednesday for the Jets. WR Robby Anderson (ankle) doesn't practice.

QBs Sam Darnold (foot) and Josh McCown (back, hand) were both limited in practice Wednesday for the Jets, while WR Robby Anderson (ankle) didn't practice. Darnold has been ramping up practice participation after missing the past two weeks with a foot strain, but initial reports out of Jets camp suggested that Darnold was more likely to make his return for the team's Week 14 matchup with the Bills, as opposed to this weekend vs the Titans. That may depend somewhat on the health of backup QB Josh McCown, who was also limited today. Robby Anderson also appears at risk to miss another contest due to his ankle injury, however all three players' practice statuses heading into the weekend will need to be monitored to get a better idea of their individual availability.

QB Sam Darnold (foot) ruled out Sunday; Robby Anderson (ankle) is questionable

Josh McCown will get the start but isn't set up well against the Patriots, attached to a meager 18-point team total. Expect Quincy Enunwa to lead the Jets in targets again and Jermaine Kearse to round out 2-WR sets on Sunday if Anderson is sidelined.

QB Sam Darnold has "significant foot sprain" and will not play in Week 10

The rookie QB was spotted wearing a walking boot today due to a "significant foot sprain" suggesting this could be an extended layoff. No injury was reported in Week 9's loss to the Dolphins, making this news quite the surprise. Veteran QB Josh McCown will take over as the starter in Week 10 and could actually bring a spark to a Jets offense that's been sputtering of late behind Darnold's poor play. Additionally, the Jets come in as a rare touchdown home-favorite against a Bills offense that also struggles to sustain drives, leaving ample opportunities for opposing offenses. McCown is only $4,300 on DraftKings and has proven to be a serviceable fantasy asset in the past, which puts him into consideration this week.

Sneaky Upside for Jets Quarterback

Veteran Josh McCown and first round draft pick Sam Darnold appear to be a locked in a starting quarterback battle for the rights to be under center for the New York Jets in week 1. Darnold was the #3 overall selection in this past draft and showed play-making skills in college. Josh McCown had a surprisingly solid fantasy season with New York in 2017 where he passed for nearly 3,000 yards with 18 touchdowns and ran for an additional 5 scores. With weapons like Robby Anderson, Jermaine Kearse and newly signed Terrelle Pryor, the Jets starting QB could prove to be a big DFS asset throughout the 2018 season.

Josh McCown to miss the rest of the season

The injury news has not been good for starting QB's this Monday, and Jet's coach Todd Bowles confirmed today that the team will be without Josh McCown for the remainder of the season. McCown's broken hand will require surgery thus moving Bryce Petty into the starters role moving forward. Petty started 4 games last season and will have pretty big shoes to fill in the place of McCown. With three games of 300 yards or more this season, McCown was in the middle of the best season of his career. The Jets offense under McCown had the ability to push the ball downfield when needed, and it remains a big question mark if Petty will have the same kind of connection with up and coming wideout Robby Anderson.

This QB Faces One Of The Worst Defenses And Should Be Underowned

While I love Ryan Fitzpatrick and the upside he offers this week, I am as interested in the QB on the other side of the field. He comes at an elevated price, which makes me think he will be extremely low owned this week. He's oddly been one of the most consistent fantasy QB's this season as he's only posted one bad game. The upside may be capped somewhat for GPP's, but he is facing a Bucs team that is one of the worst defenses in the NFL (30th overall) and one of the worst in fantasy points allowed to QBs (27th). It's hard to pass on McCown here and I feel so safe with this play I think you could use it in cash games. I like stacking him with Anderson, Kearse, and/or ASJ and running it back with a receiver from the Bucs.
