Anthony Firkser Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
ATL TE Anthony Firkser elevated from the practice squad
He will add depth to TE while John Fitzpatrick is on IR
TEN TE Anthony Firkser ruled out for Sunday
Anthony Firkser has been ruled out for Sunday ahead of the Titans matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. Firkser was a late scratch last week and is still dealing with his injury opening the door for more tight end snaps for Geoff Swaim and MyCole Pruitt with Tommy Hudson likely to see whatever is left over. No tight end is likely to see the bulk of the snaps so it is best to just stay away from this situation if possible. Last week Pruitt saw 3 targets and both Swaim and Hudson saw 2.
Titans TE Anthony Firsker (knee) DNP Thursday
Firkser was a DNP Thursday again with a knee injury that kept him from playing week one. It's looking like Firkser won't be able to play, which would lead to more work for Geoff Swaim, Mycole Pruitt, and Tommy Hudson; none of them would be good options.
TEN TE Anthony Firkser and WR Cameron Batson inactive; TE Tommy Hudson active
Firkser was questionable to play on Friday, and was ultimately ruled out and will miss the game against the Seahawks. Tommy Hudson was elevated from the practice squad, and will join Mycole Pruitt and Geoff Swaim as a frustrating TE by committee. Batson was ruled inactive as well, and Josh Reynolds should make his debut as the team's third wide receiver.
TEN TE Anthony Firkser (knee) listed questionable
Firsker picked up a knee injury and was downgraded for Friday's practice, always a worrisome sign ahead of the Titans game against the Seahawks. The Titans love to play TE by committee, so there may be a few players who benefit if he sits, primarily MyCole Pruitt and Geoff Swaim. The main targets will still be A.J. Brown and Julio Jones regardless of Firkser's status.
Anthony Firkser 2021 Fantasy Outlook
Per RotoGrinders NFL player projections, Anthony Firkser is expected to be the fantasy TE16. He's being drafted on Underdog Fantasy as TE20 at pick 162, compared to his RotoGrinders ranking of 145 as of July. We currently expect a 13% target share which amounts to a projection of 72 targets (Rank 17) and 521 receiving yards (Rank 19) during the 17 week fantasy season.
Even though the Titans added Julio Jones in the offseason, Firsker still got a meaningful boost with the departure of Jonnu Smith. Last season, Jonnu logged 75% of the snaps while taking in a 16.3% target share. Firkser played only 32% of the snaps while seeing just an 11.9% target share. The opportunity should be there this season for Firkser to take on a much bigger role. And considering how high we are on the Titans offense as a whole, it seems that Firkser isn't getting drafted as highly as he should be.
Geoff Swaim inactive Sunday
Geoff Swaim is inactive Sunday, opening up some work for Anthony Firkser and MyCole Pruitt behind top TE Jonnu Smith.
Titans WR Adam Humphries (Ankle) is Active for Today's Game Against the Chiefs
The biggest DFS news of the day is Adam Humphries' availability. The slot receiver, who hasn’t played since Week 13 due to an ankle injury, is active today against the Chiefs. This likely pushes Tajae Sharpe back to the WR4 role for the Titans and makes Sharpe an extremely risky play, largely because his snaps should be low since the Titans like to deploy multiple tight ends. Gimino's ownership projections will probably reflect decreases for Sharpe, Anthony Firkser, and Mycole Pruitt. The Chiefs allowed the fewest fantasy points to wide receivers during the regular season, but every active player is in consideration on a two-game slate.
Delanie Walker (Ankle) Placed on Injured Reserve
Walker has been placed on IR, ending his season. Jonnu Smith had emerged as the Titans' top target at TE, but was not targeted last week. That was in part due to game script, as the Titans only threw 18 passes. MyCole Pruitt was the only TE to get a target, catching it for 20 yards, but that was just his third target in 11 games this season.
YAHOO! Special: Spiked Opportunity at TE
You’re getting a delayed discount here, as the price has yet to adjust for the injury status of Jonnu Smith. Firkser hasn’t been blowing up the boxscore, but 13-165-1 over four weeks is reasonable production, and now an opportunity spike is likely.
