Anton Khudobin Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Either goalie who starts for this team looks like a strong option in net
Oft-injured Ben Bishop departed Wednesday's game, forcing Anton Khudobin into action. Khudobin came in and made 15 saves on 16 shots in a tough matchup against Calgary. The next night, Khudobin made 40 saves on 42 shots as the Stars strengthened their playoff position with a 3-2 win in the shootout against the Oilers. Vancouver's offense has really sputtered after the All-Star Break as they are averaging the third-fewest goals per game (2.33 GF/G). Khudobin is far too cheap even in a road matchup. Dallas continues to get strong goaltending and either Khudobin ($7,300 on DraftKings) or Bishop ($7,500 on DraftKings if healthy) provides a nice discount. They routinely see shots and have a good chance to pick up the victory.
Two poor starts in a row will make sure this goalie flies under the radar
Though he struggled in Carolina and Tampa Bay, Anton Khudobin has quietly been one of the best backups in the National Hockey League this season. Khudobin's 0.934 SV% at 5-on-5 is fourth-best among all qualifying goalies (1000+ TOI). Given this and the fact that Nashville's power play is sitting dead last (12.7%) on the season, Anton could be in for another nice game against the Predators. After all, he has been lights out against them this season, going 2-0-1 while stopping 108 of 112 shots sent his way. At just $7,000 on DraftKings, Khudobin emerges as a fantastic tournament play.
This goalie has dominated his opponent twice already this season
Anton Khudobin has Nashville's number this season as in two starts he has allowed just a goal, and both of those starts came in Nashville. Altogether, Khudobin has stopped 87 of the 88 shots sent his way from the Predators in 2019. While asking Khudobin to repeat this feat again tonight seems unlikely, it is not out of the question. The Predators and Stars check in with the lowest total of the night. Additionally, Nashville sports the National Hockey League's worst power play (12.9%). Khudobin could pay off in a big way again in tournaments.
Lack of Quality Goalie Options
Pekka Rinne is my favorite goalie tonight, but his price can be prohibitive to the rest of your lineup. Anton Khudobin is my favorite value option and offers significant savings over Rinne. He'll be at home, where he is 3-1-0 on the season and his team in front of him generally plays well. He's listed as a -120 favorite at home, and I expect him to pick up the win.
Top Goalie Tonight
With Tuukka Rask out due to injury, Anton Khudobin will step in as the top goalie on tonights nine-game slate. The 31-year-old Russian netminder has been solid in goal for the Bruins this season (2.34 GAA, .921 SV%), and he is likely your safest option tonight in cash games. Boston is a strong defensive team and with the Detroit Red Wings inability to score goals (28th overall in the National Hockey League in goals per game), I expect Khudobin to cruise to an easy victory, and a shutout is not of the question either.
The Boston Bruins have one of the best goalie tandems in the NHL
The backup goaltender is one of the more underrated players in the NHL. Even if you have a goalie that plays 65+ games, having a good backup is important. Just look at the Penguins Stanley Cup runs with then-back-up goalie Matt Murray after Marc-Andre Fleury was hurt. The Bruins have one of the best backup goaltenders in the NHL in Anton Khudobin. He is coming into this game with a sparkling 10-3-4 record to go with a 2.36 goals against average and a .924 save percentage including one shutout. Goalie is tough tonight on a weird three game slate, but despite the back to back situation, Khudobin is probably the best bet. The Bruins are in New York to take on a Rangers team that is on a downward spiral. The Rangers are 3-7 in their last 10 games including losing six of their last seven games. They are giving up so many scoring chances and have allowed four or more goals in five of those seven games. Despite the road back to back, Khudobin should be able to pick up the win as the Bruins are currently the biggest Vegas favourites on the board.
Cheap goalie with high win probability
The Buffalo Sabres have started the season how they usually start — miserably. The Sabres sport the National Hockey League’s worst 5v5 xGF/60 (1.79). Despite some talent up front in Jack Eichel and Evander Kane, Buffalo struggles to drive play as evidenced by their poor 47.05 CF%. Nothing about Anton Khudobin jumps out, but he owns a career 2.28 GAA and .920 SV% when guarding the crease at home. Khudobin os a great bargain on all fantasy sites tonight, and as the biggest favorite of the night in Vegas, Anton should be in line for the all-important win. Anton will be supported by an offense that clobbered the Canucks for six goals last time out. Take advantage of the discount Khudobin provides.
Inexpensive Goalie May Be the Top Option On The Slate
The Boston Bruins are the biggest favorite on the board tonight and they should cruise to a victory over the Vancouver Canucks. The Bruins should get both Patrice Bergeron and David Backes back in the lineup this evening, which will only help them dominate a much weaker Canucks squad. Vancouver owns one of the weakest offenses in the game, ranking 29th in shots per game and 26th in goals per game, and it is unlikely they muster up much offense tonight at the TD Garden. Anton Khudobin looked very good in his first start and I expect another strong performance from him this evening. Khudobin may not see a lot of shots, but he is a lock for the win and he has shutout potential in this plus matchup on home ice. Not to mention, he is inexpensive to roster, leaving you room to upgrade your offense.
