Ben Roethlisberger Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger and WR Chase Claypool returned to practice Tuesday

Ben Roethlisberger and Chase Claypool have both returned to practice Tuesday ahead of Thursday night's game against the Minnesota Vikings. Both Roethlisberger and Claypool sat out Monday's practice likely to take an extra day to recover from the minor injuries they have been dealing with this season. Both also returned and practice fully on Tuesday meaning they should both be ready to play in full capacity by Thursday. Roethlisberger, despite his age and declining ability, will need to be considered on the showdown slate due to his secure floor as a quarterback. Claypool should be considered due to his big play threat and target volume as the Steelers number two pass-catching option behind Diontae Johnson.

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger activated from COVID list, expected to start Sunday

As expected, Ben Roethlisberger has been activated from the COVID list and is expected to start Sunday night against the Los Angeles Chargers. At This point in his career Roethlisberger is only a slight upgrade over Mason Rudolph, but he is still an upgrade. All pass-catchers are expected to see a slight boost as well with Roethlisberger at the helm. Big Ben will need to be considered on the showdown slate, especially in cash games where quarterbacks are usually the safest players to build around due to their expected floor.

PIT QB Ben Roethlisberger placed on COVID list, out Sunday; Mason Rudolph expected to start

Ben Roethlisberger has been placed on the COVID list and will be out Sunday when the Pittsburgh Steelers are set to take on the Detroit Lions. Mason Rudolph is expected to get the starting nod and with that all Steelers pass-catchers will see a dip in their expected production, even against a soft Detroit defense. Three of the top plays of the slate will be affected by this news with Diontae Johnson and James Washington taking a hit, however Najee Harris might see a dip in his passing game production but could be relied on more heavily in the run game. Johnson and Washington are still decent plays but definitely come with more risk now, while Harris could actually become an even better play.

PIT WR Chase Claypool DNP Wednesday considered "week-to-week"; QB Ben Roethlisberger DNP but still expected to play Sunday

Chase Claypool logged a DNP Wednesday and is considered week-to-week going forward while Ben Roethlisberger also logged a DNP but is still expected to play Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Claypool seems to be trending towards being out this weekend which will benefit Diontae Johnson and the rest of the receiving Corps. Johnson will probably be one of the better plays on the slate and James Washington could be a viable value option.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson, QB Ben Roethlisberger, and TE Eric Ebron DNP Wednesday

Diontae Johnson, Ben Roethlisberger, and Eric Ebron all missed practice on Wednesday for the Steelers. The big news here is Johnson's absence who was seen limping after the game on Sunday. Roethlisberger is expected to play despite his pectoral injury and Ebron was held out due to a coach's decision likely for rest. If Johnson is unable to go on Sunday both JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool would see bumps. This situation is definitely worth monitoring throughout the rest of the week ahead of the Steelers' matchup with the Bengals this Sunday.

Wednesday Week 17 NFL Roundup: Patrick Mahomes, Dalvin Cook, Ben Roethlisberger all to sit on Sunday; Panthers won't have Mike Davis, Jags to be without James Robinson

Week 17 is always a little weird, and we're starting to get a clearer picture as to what regulars will be resting in the regular-season finale. The Chiefs won't push Patrick Mahomes, instead turning to Chad Henne to lead the offense in a meaningless Week 17 game. It's very likely that Tyreek Hill, Travis Kelce, Le'Veon Bell and Sammy Watkins could also be eased up on or just flat out inactive, so you're playing with fire by rostering any Chiefs in a game without consequence to them. The Vikings won't have Dalvin Cook on Sunday due to a personal matter, leading to Alexander Mattison likely leading the backfield and setting up as one of the stronger values at the RB spot. Speaking of RB values, Mike Davis won't play on Sunday for Carolina, leading to a much bigger workload for Rodney Smith. The Jags will be without James Robinson for a second straight week, giving Dare Ogunbowale another shot to lead the backfield after he turned in a solid yet uninspring effort in a blowout loss to Chicago. The Steelers are looking towards the playoffs and will therefore give Ben Roethlisberger a week of rest and let Mason Rudolph run the offense.

Ben Roethlisberger, Jaylen Samuels activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list

The Steelers got some good news Saturday, with Ben Roethlisberger and Jaylen Samuels both activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list, making both eligible to play this week.

Ben Roethlisberger (Elbow) Out for Season

Roethlisberger injured his elbow Week 2 and will need surgery to recover. The Steelers announced the recovery will end Roethlisberger's season and land him on the IR. Mason Rudolph, the Steelers' 3rd round draft pick in 2018, will get his chance to start at QB. He completed 12 of 19 passes for 112 yards, 2 TD's and 1 interception in relief of Roethlisberger Week 2. He was highly productive at Oklahoma State, but Week 2 was his first NFL regular season action. He has potential but will be a very risky DFS play until he can prove himself competent. All the other offensive weapons on the Steelers should be downgraded based on this news.

Ben Roethlisberger (Elbow) Getting MRI Monday

Roethlisberger injured his elbow Week 2 and got an MRI Monday. It was revealed that he will require surgery, ending his season and landing him on the IR. Mason Rudolph will get the first shot at the starting job.

Steelers WR Juju Smith-Schuster Active Today as Expected

Steelers WR Juju Smith-Schuster is playing in an excellent bounce-back spot against a Seattle team that just allowed 418 yards to Andy Dalton. Seattle is also without two of their top defensive linemen. Smith-Schuster makes for a great play in all formats for DFS.
