Bennie Fowler Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Michael Thomas (hamstring) and Bennie Fowler (shoulder) don't practice Thursday

Thomas tweaked his hamstring at practice earlier in the week, and his absence from Thursday's practice officially puts his status in some doubt for Sunday's Week 7 matchup against the Carolina Panthers due to the aforementioned ailment. If Thomas is ultimately inactive, not many things change for the Saints offense since Thomas has been sidelined since Week 2, so Emannuel Sanders and Tre'Quan Smith would remain the top two wide receivers for quarterback Drew Brees for at least one more game. Sanders would an especially interesting option in daily fantasy formats after amassing at least a 29.8% target share and a minimum 32.0% market share of the team's air yards over the previous two contests.

Giants Waive Bennie Fowler

The Giants waived Fowler for the second time this season, previously waiving him after Week 4. He didn't play Week 12 with Sterling Shepard returning.

Giants Re-Sign Bennie Fowler

The Giants have re-signed WR Bennie Fowler. Sterling Shepard is expected to miss significant time with his second concussion of the season, creating the need for another WR. Fowler had 12 catches for 99 yards and 0 TD's in 4 games for the Giants to start the season.

Golden Tate (Suspension) Activated, Bennie Fowler and T.J. Jones Released

Tate has been activated after missing the first four games of the season due to suspension. The Giants also activated LB Josiah Tauaefa, meaning they had to release two players. They released two WR's, Bennie Fowler and T.J. Jones.

Fowler faded the past two weeks, going from 10 catches the first two weeks down to just two catches the last two weeks. Jones muffed two punts last week, which likely doomed him. He had no targets over the past two weeks, so the fantasy impact isn't huge.

Russell Shepard (Foot) Out, Bennie Fowler (Hamstring) Limited, Cody Latimer (Concussion) Full in Practice Thursday

Shepard missed his second consecutive practice, putting his Week 4 status in doubt. Fowler was limited again and has a good chance to play. Latimer is a full participant in practice but still needs to clear the concussion protocol, something he will attempt to do Friday. If he passes, he will play this week.

Bennie Fowler (Hamstring), Cody Latimer (Concussion) Limited in Practice Wednesday

Fowler was able to play 60% of the snaps Week 3, down from 78% the previous week, and only saw 2 targets. His odds of playing again look good, but his role is shrinking as the other Giants' WR's get healthy. Cody Latimer was out last week, and concussions can often be slow to heal. He does not look as likely to play Week 4.

Bennie Fowler Tweaks Hamstring, Week 3 Status Unknown

Fowler's Week 3 status is unknown with a tweaked hamstring. He led the Giants with 10 targets Week 2, but converted that into just 51 yards. The Giants are starting Daniel Jones at QB instead of Eli Manning Week 3, so there is increased upside for the Giants' WR's.

Cody Latimer, Sterling Shepard Both in Concussion Protocol

Latimer and Shepard are both in the concussion protocol for the Giants. Shepard suffered his concussion Week 1 and was out for Week 2. Latimer was concussed Week 2 and just entered the protocol, making him doubtful for Week 2. Evan Engram remains the main passing option in this offense, and if Latimer is out Bennie Fowler would be the clear second WR.

Cody Latimer (Calf) Questionable Week 2

Cody Latimer first appeared on the injury report yesterday with a calf injury. He will be considered questionable for Week 2 and his status will need to be monitored over the weekend. If healthy he could be the top target for the Giants, which is more a reflection of the Giants' WR issues than it is of Latimer's skills. Bennie Fowler and Russell Shepard would see more targets if Latimer is out.
