Brandon Rush will be available to play tonight for Minnesota
Rush hasn't played since March 4th but will be available to play and will start tonight ahead of Shabazz Muhammad. He's a viable punt option at minimum price on both sites facing the Warriors in what should be a relatively high scoring game.
Brandon Rush (illness) probable for Friday's game against the Warriors
Brandon Rush was unable to play on Wednesday due to an illness and Shabazz Muhammad replaced him in the starting lineup. Muhammad had his best game in about a month and played 26 minutes. Muhammad had a 30% usage rate against the Clippers and continued his hot shooting over the past week. Muhammad has shot 50% or better in five straight games and will be an elite punt option if Rush is limited or kept as a reserve.
Brandon Rush (illness) ruled out tonight; Shabazz Muhammad will start
With Rush out of action, Shabazz Muhammad will draw the start and we could also see either Tyus Jones or Nemanja Bjelica pick up some extra court time as well. Muhammad becomes a viable minimum priced punt play in late slates, but this news doesn't add a ton of intrigue to either Jones or Bjelica. The outlook for the other four starters doesn't change much as a result.
Zach Lavine's status uncertain for tonight; seems doubtful
The Timberwolves guard missed the last game and said he did not know if he would play this morning. "Want to make sure I'm ok, make sure I'm 100 percent," he told local media. That language would make it seem that he's not quite to that point yet and lends credence to him not playing tonight. We'll continue to keep an eye on the situation but if he does sit it's a boost to Brandon Rush (who started last game for LaVine) and Nemanja Bjelica (who disappointed many in DFS last game after Rush took all the minutes).
Zach Lavine (hip) questionable for Friday
Zach LaVine missed Wednesday's game against the Rockets with a hip issue. He was able to practice today but is still being listed as questionable. Brandon Rush and Shabazz Muhammad played really well in the absence of LaVine while Nemanja Bjelica also provided a boost. Look for another update regarding LaVine before plugging in Rush or Muhammad into your lineups for Friday.
Brandon Rush starting for Zach LaVine (hip) tonight
LaVine will not play in tonight's game against the Houston Rockets after previously being listed as questionable on the Timberwolves' injury report with a left hip contusion he sustained in Monday's win over the Dallas Mavericks. As expected, Brandon Rush will draw the start at shooting guard in LaVine's place. In the previous game LaVine missed this season, Timberwolves head coach Tom Thibodeau decided to start Nemanja Bjelica at small forward and slide Andrew Wiggins up to the two spot, so it appears he may be going in a different direction in an effort to better matchup with Houston defensively. According to our CourtIQ tool, Wiggins leads the Timberwolves with a significant 7.2% usage rate differential (37.0%) with LaVine off the court this season, making him a near must play in every format given his price tag and matchup.
Brandon Rush (toe) available to play off the bench tonight
Rush will be available to play off the bench for the Timberwolves in tonight's game against the San Antonio Spurs. Whether he actually sees the court in his return remains to be seen. Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau prefers to run out a tight rotation, so Rush is likely to have minimal to no impact on the starters minutes, even if he does play. None of the Minnesota reserves are currently viable as daily fantasy options and would need an injury to become relevant.
Brandon Rush (toe) listed as questionable for Friday
Brandon Rush is being listed as questionable for Friday's game against the Knicks. Rush has not even played in the last two games and even if he were available he would not see the court for more than 5-8 minutes. Rush would need multiple injuries in front of him to even be considered a low-end option.
Brandon Rush (toe) to play off the bench tonight
Rush will be available to play in tonight's game against the Boston Celtics after being sidelined since early November. It's unclear how Rush will eventually factor into the Timberwolves' rotation, though he is unlikely to play a significant role. His presence on the bench this evening does nothing to affect the fantasy outlook of any of the members of the Minnesota rotation.
Shabazz Muhammad (knee) will play tonight; Brandon Rush (toe) ruled out
Muhammad has been activated by the Timberwolves and is fully expected to play in tonight's game against Memphis after missing three consecutive games with a sore right knee. There has been no indication or confirmation of a minutes restriction for Muhammad at the time of this writing. The reinsertion of Muhammad into Minnesota's rotation should cut into the minutes of Nemanja Bjelica and, to a lesser extent, Andrew Wiggins. however, Timberwolves coach Tom Thibodeau is known to run his starters into the ground, so Wiggins' playing time may not be affected much, if at all.
