Brandon Weeden Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Titans signing Brandon Weeden

That could be a bad sign for Marcus Mariota, who's currently dealing with a hamstring strain and is questionable for Week 5. If Mariota is ruled out. If Mariota is ruled out, Matt Cassel will start. He's an inaccurate passer with a career completion percentage of 58.8%. That was on display Sunday when he went 4-for-10 with two picks. Although the Titans have a favorable matchup with a fantasy-friendly secondary, it's going to be a little hard to trust the pass-catchers to produce with Cassel throwing the ball. At least he has a terrific offensive line protecting him that ranks second in pass-blocking efficiency (PFF) and the Dolphins defensive line currently ranks 28th in adjusted sack rate (per FO). If Mariota can suit up, he'll have a great outlook and so will his pass-catchers - Miami has allowed the third-highest passer rating (112.4) and sixth-most passing yards per game (272).

Brian Hoyer in last phase of concussion protocol

It looks like Brian Hoyer has a shot to return in Week 17 now that he's made it to the last phase of the concussion protocol. We won't know more until Wednesday, but we'd consider him questionable at this point with Brandon Weeden drawing another start if he can't go. Weeden had his fair share of success against the Titans this week but he'd only be a dart-throw GPP play at best even in a nice match-up with the Jaguars secondary. DeAndre Hopkins is a nice target regardless of who starts at QB, and Nate Washington also remains a sneaky tournament play with Cecil Shorts on the shelf. Washington has fared much better when he's not fighting with Shorts for work.

Brian Hoyer officially inactive Week 16

Brian Hoyer has been officially ruled out for Week 16 against Tennessee. With Brandon being announced the starter yesterday and Hoyer not cleared from his latest concussion, this was expected today. The Titans come into Week 16 ranked #27 against the QB in DvP rankings, but the Texans will most likely look to limit Weeden's exposure and lean on the ground game if they are able to. While Weeden starting for the Texans is a bit of a downgrade for DeAndre Hopkins, Hopkins did catch 5 passes from Weeden last week in his spot relief of TJ Yates.

Brandon Weeden to start for Texans

As reported by Adam Schefter, Brandon Weeden will get the start when the Texans play the Titans tomorrow with Brian Hoyer not cleared from his concussion. Last week Weeden played in relief of T.J. Yates, completing 11 of 18 passes for 105 yards, 1 TD and 0 INT. Tennessee comes into Week 16 ranked #27 vs. QB's and #18 vs. WR's while the Texans like to run the ball (37 rushes / 28 passes Week 15), the Titans are better against the run, ranked #9 vs. RB's. In their Week 8 meeting, DeAndre Hopkins had a stat line of 8-94-1 and he gets another positive match up this week against Parrish Cox (PFF's T-59th ranked in coverage). When Hopkins moves around the formation, he will also see Coty Sensabaugh and B.W. Webb (PFF ranked T-73rd & T-85th in coverage, respectively). Brandon Weeden completed 5 of his 11 passes (on 7 targets) and 60 of his 105 yards to Hopkins last week in a 16-10 win over the Colts.

Cowboys cut Brandon Weeden

With Tony Romo back and Matt Cassel signed, the Cowboys have parted ways with Brandon Weeden. It seems definite now that Romo will get the start this week which is good news for pretty much every offensive player on the Cowboys, especially Dez Bryant and Jason Witten.
