Bruce Ellington Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Bruce Ellington (hamstring) out Sunday; Kenny Golladay (chest) and LeGarrette Blount (calf) questionable

Ellington was limited in practice all week, but he's officially been ruled out for Sunday's matchup against the Minnesota Vikings due to a hamstring injury that's now forced him to miss two consecutive games, while Golladay and Blount are both questionable with their respective ailments. The absence of Ellington will allow T.J. Jones and Andy Jones to continue seeing snaps alongside Golladay in two and three-wide receiver sets.

Matthew Stafford (back) questionable for Sunday; Kerryon Johnson (knee) and Bruce Ellington (hamstring) ruled out

Stafford was limited in practice and is officially questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Buffalo Bills due to a back issue, while Johnson and Ellington have been ruled out, as expected, after not participating in any practices throughout the entire week. The continued absence of Johnson will enable the committee of LeGarrette Blount, Theo Riddick, and Zach Zenner to continue handling all of the backfield touches, though given the Bills low implied team total and projected game flow, Riddick appears to be the "best" running back option as he'll likely also see a bump in snaps in the slot with Ellington sidelined. Buffalo ranks ninth in rush DVOA, so this certainly isn't the spot to target Blount and his 2.9 YPC average, especially with Zenner seeing an uptick in snaps in the Lions' Week 14 win.

Matthew Stafford and Bruce Ellington are active

As expected Matthew Stafford and Bruce Ellington are both active for today's game vs The Cardinals. With Marvin Jones out for the year, Ellington has converted 26 targets into 19 receptions over the last three weeks. In a tough matchup on a team with very little to play for, Ellington can be considered a decent source of salary relief.

Kerryon Johnson (knee) out Sunday; Bruce Ellington (back) and Michael Roberts (shoulder) questionable

Johnson has officially been ruled out of Sunday's matchup against the Arizona Cardinals after not practicing the entire week due to a knee injury, while Bruce Ellington and Michael Roberts are listed as questionable with their respective ailments and Kenny Golladay will play despite being limited in practice the last two days. This news will allow LeGarrette Blount and Theo Riddick to continue monopolizing the Lions' newly-formed two-running back committee, though both are relatively touchdown dependent given the ineptitude of the Lions slow-paced offense.

Bruce Ellington (back) limited in practice Thursday for the Lions

Bruce Ellington (back) limited in practice Thursday for the Lions, but he's still expected to suit up Sunday. He's playing second-fiddle to Kenny Golladay, but that's still a much larger role than he could have anticipated having at this point. He's more or less taken on the Golden Tate role, albeit with a far lower ceiling. He has a tough individual match-up Sunday but is still on the radar on full-point PPR sites.

Salary Saver Receiver Taking on Expanded Role

With Marvin Jones out for the rest of the season and Golden Tate in Philadelphia, there are some receiving targets to spare and so far the beneficiary has been Bruce Ellington. Ellington has seen 16 targets over the past two games and has pulled down 12 receptions. The yardage numbers aren’t spectacular with only 80 yards combined in those two game, but this week Detroit will have to keep up with a Rams team that ranks 27th in the league in passing yards-per-attempt allowed. Ellington is near minimum price and is worth a look as a salary-saver across DFS sites this week.

Kerryon Johnson (knee) and Marvin Jones (knee) both not practicing again Tuesday, Bruce Ellington (back) limited in practice for the Lions

Kerryon Johnson (knee) and Marvin Jones (knee) both missed practice again Tuesday for the Lions, while Bruce Ellington (back) was limited in practice in advance of the team's Thanksgiving showdown with the Bears. Johnson has been listed as "week-to-week" and appears extremely unlikely to suit up Thursday, meaning some combination of LeGarrette Blount, Zach Zenner and Theo Riddick will handle running back duties in a difficult matchup against a stout run defense. Jones also appears unlikely to suit up, leaving Kenny Golladay the primary weapon in the Lions passing attack. Ellington, on the other hand, appears on track to suit up, and may see a few extra looks assuming Marvin Jones is ultimately inactive for the contest.

WR Bruce Ellington signs with Lions

With nearly a 30% target share left behind by Golden Tate, the Lions have decided to add some WR depth in the form of Bruce Ellington, while releasing RB Ameer Abdullah in a corresponding move. The former Texans receiver should compete with T.J. Jones for slot snaps as soon as this Sunday against the Bears and should be the frontrunner to see more time in 3-WR sets, alongside Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones, for the remainder of the season.

WR Bruce Ellington placed on IR

The Texans' WR3 will be out indefinitely due to a hamstring injury. Look for Houston to maintain one of the most concentrated target share distributions in the league as wideouts Deandre Hopkins and Will Fuller receive the slightest of bumps with this news. Ellington had seen 12 targets through the first 3 weeks of the season.

Week 1 Salary Saver

The Texans have just waived Braxton Miller, opening the door for Ellington to see more snaps. Houston faces a NE secondary in Week 1 that allowed the 5th most points/game to the Wr position on both DK and Fanduel. Ellington had his best game of the season in 2017 in a Week 3 matchup vs. the Patriots in which he was targeted 7 times, and had 3 receptions for 59 yards and 1 touchdown.
