Charcandrick West Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Spencer Ware officially inactive; Damien Williams will start, Charcandrick West also active; Eric Berry officially active
Spencer Ware officially inactive. Damien Williams will draw the start at RB, with Charcandrick West acting in a complementary role as it's his first game action of the season. Like Justin Jackson, Williams is a very strong $/point play on this slate and is also a recommended option for Thurs-Sun/Thurs-Mon contests. Eric Berry is also officially active, which should make it a little tougher for the Chargers to move the ball via the middle of the field.
RB Charcandrick West re-signing with Chiefs
The former Chiefs back's familiarity with the offense is apparently why West was chosen over fellow free agent C.J. Anderson. He could immediately siphon passing down snaps from Spencer Ware in a change-up role, though Ware should remain the lead back for now and benefit from the positive gamescript the Chiefs should usually find themselves in down the season's final stretch. Damien Williams could remain involved as well in some form of a 3-man committee.
Chiefs sign C.J. Spiller
The Chiefs signed veteran running back C.J. Spiller as insurance policy ahead of a wild card matchup vs the Titans this weekend. With both Charcandrick West ( Illness) and Akeem Hunt ( Ankle) both on the injury report, the team signed Spiller to add depth in case of an emergency. Kareem Hunt will continue to work as the Chiefs' featured back for their Wild Card matchup against the Titans
Chiefs RB Charcandrick West (illness) ruled out for Sunday
West has been ruled out and won't play in tomorrow's game against the Denver Broncos after previously being listed as questionable on the Kansas City Chiefs' injury report with an illness. West was originally tentatively expected to suit up, according to head coach Andy Reid, but now that he'll be inactive, Akeem Hunt figures to receive a majority of the work out of the backfield with Kareem Hunt likely to see limited snaps. That said, the entire running back corps has a difficult matchup against a Broncos defense that ranks second in rush DVOA on the season. Reid hasn't yet disclosed how he'll manage the running back situation but Akeem Hunt, Kareem Hunt, and fullback Anthony Sherman are the only ball-carriers currently on the active roster.
Tyreek Hill out Sunday
Hill will join his quarterback Alex Smith on the sideline for the Chiefs' Week 17 matchup against the Broncos. Pat Mahomes will get his first career NFL action on Sunday and looks to show what he can do in an actual game. For now, the team has made no formal announcement on the status of Karem Hunt, as both backups Akeem Hunt and Charcandrick West are listed as questionable for Sunday's game. Both players are tentatively slated to suit up and could see a decent amount of work with many of the key starters for the Chiefs expected to rest.
Charcandrick West returns to practice
West missed last week's game vs the Jets for personal reasons, but he is back at practice this week and is expected to play vs The Raiders. In his absence, Kareem Hunt played a season-high 87 % of snaps last week. With West back in action this week we can expect Hunt to return back to his normal 75% of snaps played. At $6,500 on DraftKings his recent poor performances makes Hunt a GPP play only this week.
Charcandrick West and LB Dee Ford ruled out for Week 13
West will miss the game for personal reasons. His absence should provide Kareem Hunt more snaps and a bigger role in the passing game this weekend. Head coach Andy Reid told reporters he wouldn't be bringing anyone up from the practice squad, meaning Kansas City will only have two backs active on Sunday with Akeem Hunt serving as the backup.
Chiefs LB Justin Houston (knee) questionable for Monday; Charcandrick West (concussion) removed from injury report
Houston was added to the Kansas City Chiefs' injury report for Monday night's game against the Denver Broncos with a sore knee. Despite the questionable tag, head coach Andy Reid told the media during his press conference that Houston will be good to go and was absent from Saturday's practice due to rest. If for some reason Houston ends up inactive, the Broncos offense should see a significant boost in value and Demaryius Thomas is in line for a huge bounce back week should Emmanuel Sanders be inactive for a second straight game. As for Charchandrick West, he has officially passed the concussion protocol and will presumably be active Monday night after being removed from the Chiefs' updated injury report.
C.J. Spiller released by Chiefs, Charcandrick West expected to play Week 8
Spiller re-signed with Kansas City for last Thursday's game because Charcandrick West was in the concussion protocol. They released him again today as West is expected to be cleared to play in Week 8 against the Broncos. He'll remain in a limited role behind workhorse Kareem Hunt and won't have much fantasy appeal. Hunt will battle the Broncos in Week 8, whose defense is allowing the second-fewest PPR points to RBs this season.
Charcandrick West ruled out for Week 7; Albert Wilson questionable
Also ruled out: C Mitch Morse and RG Laurent Duvernay-Tardif. West wasn't able to clear the concussion protocol in time for their Thursday night matchup with the Raiders. Kansas City signed C.J. Spiller earlier this week, he could take over some of West's passing-down duties. With Chris Conley out, Wilson should see an uptick in targets going forward. If he suits up Thursday, he'll have a decent matchup with T.J. Carrie in the slot. Carrie has posted the third-worst cover snaps per reception rate (6.9) and allowed a fantasy-friendly 83% catch rate, but he has earned PFF's 17th-best cover grade.
