Spend Down With This Goalie Tonight

If you're looking for value in net tonight, consider taking Charlie Lindgren, who will be filling in for the injured Carey Price. In eight games played this season, Lindgren owns a solid .933 SV% at even strength. A matchup against a potent Flyers team may seem risky, but Philadelphia has generated the fewest shot attempts and the second fewest scoring chances among road teams on tonight's slate. Montreal meanwhile has allowed the second fewest scoring chances despite allowing the second most shot attempts among home teams. This bodes well for the talented young netminder, who should see plenty of low quality shots to easily pay off his attractive price if he's able to get enough goal support to earn the victory.

Top Value Goaltender

Despite the Pittsburgh Penguins poor defensive play thus far, Matt Murray should be a safe bet tonight for cash games as he faces the National Hockey Leagues worst overall team, on the tail end of a road back-to-to back. The Arizona Coyotes are not only losing games (2-12-2), they are also struggling to create offense, sitting 22nd in shots per game and 28th in goals per game. Murray may not shut out the Desert Dogs tonight, but a win and 25 saves seem like a lock. If you do not trust Murray, or simply want to save some salary, Charlie Lindgren (assuming he starts) is next up on my list. The Montreal Canadiens are a big favorite tonight as they host the expansion Vegas Golden Knights, who are also playing on consecutive nights. Lindgren has looked very comfortable at the NHL level and he was absolutely brilliant in his last start, shutting out the Chicago Blackhawks with a 38 save performance. Murray is the safer option of the two, but Lindgren has similar upside, with a much better price tag.
