Chris Andersen Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Chris Andersen (knee) will miss the remainder of season
Andersen will not play again this season after suffering a torn ACL during Friday's practice. The injury will require season-ending surgery. Andersen played in just 12 games this season and averaged only 9.5 minutes per game, so his absence will not have a substantial impact on the Cavaliers rotation. A corresponding roster move has to yet to be announced by the Cavaliers, so we should expect James Jones to get some additional run at power foward, at least for the interim, while Channing Frye could see more minutes as the backup center to Tristan Thompson, the only "true" center currently on Cleveland's roster. With that said, neither player should see enough of a minutes boost to be fantasy relevant on a nightly basis.
Tony Allen starting on Friday; Chris Andersen to the bench
Allen will return to the starting lineup for Game 3. Jordan Farmar, Vince Carter, Matt Barnes, and Zach Randolph round out the starting five. Allen should be considered a strong punt option in tournaments with his salary suppressed due to the injuries. Allen will feed off the home crowd and should be expected to play over 20 minutes and could approach 28 minutes depending on the score. Tony Allen will spend his time defending Kawhi Leonard so he could be cross-matched with him as well, lowering his ceiling. With Matt Barnes starting at PF, LaMarcus Aldridge should be considered an elite option in all league formats.
Tony Allen (hamstring) questionable for tonight
Tony Allen has been upgraded to questionable but is a risky DFS play even if he plays against the Warriors. Allen will likely start if he is able to go likely sending Vince Carter or Chris Andersen back to the bench. With the Grizzlies playing in the last wave of games, Allen should not an option on the all day slate.
Vince Carter replaces Chris Andersen in the starting lineup
Carter will be making his first start of the season for the Grizzlies tonight. Carter should see about 24 minutes against the Warriors and is an elite punt option. He scored 34 fpts against the Bulls on Tuesday, proving that he does have a robust ceiling if he plays well. Vince only scored 7.2 fpts in his last appearance so the floor is pretty low as well. The Grizzlies official starting five is Farmar, Stephenson, Barnes, Carter, and Randolph.
Chris Andersen expected to play on Tuesday
Chris Andersen is expected to play against the Lakers on Tuesday. Andersen will be returning after a nine-game absence due to a shoulder injury. In four starts with the Grizzlies, Andersen has been averaging 16.45 DKFP, making him a viable punt play for the late slate. Ryan Hollins will likely go back to the bench with Andersen returning, losing most of his already low DFS value.
Chris Andersen downgraded to questionable for Tuesday
Chris Andersen has been downgraded to questionable for Tuesday. He was probable coming into the game, so we'll upgrade his status when it becomes official. If Andersen misses the game, Ryan Hollins and JaMychael Green will see the minutes at center.
Mike Conley and Chris Andersen out on Monday & Wednesday
Mike Conley is dealing with a sore foot and will not be available tonight against the Cavs. Chris Andersen, who has an injured shoulder, has also been ruled out. Both players are technically also out for Wednesday but we can confirm that status on the day of the game. Mario Chalmers will likely start in Conley's place and makes for an elite punt option on Monday. Chalmers has exceeded 5x on DraftKings in five consecutive games and is in a favorable match-up tonight despite Memphis being heavy underdogs. With Chris Andersen out of the lineup, JaMychal Green should be considered a strong punt option with his salary sub $4k on both major sites.
Chris Andersen to start for Brandan Wright, not JaMychal Green
Chris Andersen will be starting tonight for the injured Brandan Wright. Andersen will likely not see more than 20 minutes and is a viable punt option. JaMychal Green still has upside for tonight but will likely not see over 24 minutes.
Brandan Wright out indefinitely, will not suit up vs. DEN
Wright has now been ruled out indefinitely, so he won't take the court tonight against the Nuggets. He's been starting recently and has been seeing around 18-20 minutes of court time, and most of that should shift to JaMychal Green and Chris Andersen. Green looks like the candidate to steal most of Wright's time tonight since Denver likes to play small, but neither Green nor Andersen are strong DFS targets tonight. Both can be avoided while Zach Randolph, Mike Conley and Matt Barnes all remain squarely in play.
Chris Andersen and P.J. Hairston to make Grizzlies debut tonight, Lance Stephenson out
Chris Andersen and P.J. Hairston will be making their Grizzlies debut tonight against the Timberwolves. Both players are expected to play as much as they are able to. While we don't have concrete minutes set, the team is in flux with so many new players available. Both players are better left off rosters until the rotation is more stable. Lance Stephenson will be missing tonight's game.
