Darren Sproles Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

RB Darren Sproles Announces Retirement from the NFL

Darren Sproles, one of the best "little" guys to play in the NFL in recent memory, has officially retired from the NFL. If he returned this season, his most likely landing spot would have been the Eagles, who he last played for and may be in need of RB depth if they make the postseason.

Darren Sproles (Hip Flexor) Done For the Season

Sproles had been able to practice earlier this week, but he apparently suffered a torn hip flexor at some point. His season is over, and the Eagles are having some depth issues are RB. Jordan Howard is questionable for Sunday, meaning Miles Sanders could be leaned on heavily this week.

Darren Sproles (Quad) Does Not Practice Thursday

Sproles was a new addition to the injury report Thursday, sitting out with a quad issue. He had been dealing with a quad issue earlier this season that kept him out multiple games, so his status this week is certainly in doubt.

Eagles RBs Miles Sanders, Darren Sproles are Both Active

The Eagles will have a healthy backfield today, with Sproles and Sanders suiting up vs. the Bears. Jordan Howard, who is projected to see half of the Eagles' rushes, is still an interesting tournament play against his former team, but is less likely to smash given the presence of Sanders and Sproles. Sanders would be nothing more than a tournament dart throw even if he is active vs. a Bears defense that has suffered in DVOA since the loss of run-stuffing DT Akiem Hicks. Sanders has obvious upside that he showed in Week 8 with a 65-yard TD run and his ridiculous 6.1 aDOT, but he is nonetheless difficult to trust in this timeshare with Howard.

Eagles RBs Darren Sproles and Miles Sanders Both Expected to Play Today Against the Bears

The Eagles will likely have a healthy backfield today, with Sproles and Sanders expected to suit up vs.

Eagles WR DeSean Jackson (Abdomen) Expected to Play Sunday Vs. the Bears

With Jackson likely to play today, much of the Eagles offense sees a significant boost, including Carson Wentz, Alshon Jeffrey, Zach Ertz, and Jordan Howard. While Jackson has obvious tournament appeal because of his big-play ability, he will help the aforementioned Jeffrey and Ertz by drawing coverage away from them. Nelson Agholor could be the odd man out if Jackson returns, as the Eagles may opt to continue to run more 12 personnel in order to have the emerging Dallas Goedert on the field.

Ertz will try to finally bust out for a breakout game against the Bears defense, ranked ninth in pass DVOA. With terrible TE options on the main slate, Ertz is very viable, especially if Jackson is on the field. Ertz ranks 11th among all NFL players in redzone targets (11) and second among TEs in air yards (601).

DeSean Jackson (Abdomen) Questionable Sunday; Darren Sproles (Quad) Off Injury Report

Sproles is off the injury report and ready to play for the first time since Week 5. Jackson is questionable but appears ready to give it a try on Sunday.

DeSean Jackson, Darren Sproles Limited in Practice Wednesday

Both Jackson and Sproles were able to practice in a limited fashion Wednesday. Given that both players have missed multiple games, there is still a good chance they aren't able to play this week.

DeSean Jackson (Abdomen), Darren Sproles (Quad) Both Ruled Out Sunday

Not surprisingly, Jackson and Sproles are out again after not being able to practice this week.

DeSean Jackson (Abdomen), Darren Sproles (Quad) Do Not Practice Thursday

Jackson and Sproles both did not practice Thursday, and both seem unlikely to be able to play this week.
