Darrius Heyward-Bey Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) doubtful for Sunday

Darrius Heyward-Bey (ankle) is doubtful for Sunday, but that doesn't really have any DFS impact. Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Washington are all firmly ahead of him in the pecking order, and DHB's absence will likely just lead to Justin Hunter being active. Brown and Smith-Schuster are both elite WR targets in what should be a back and forth meeting with the Falcons.

Ladarius Green and Sammie Coates INACTIVE Sunday

Green (concussion) and Coates (hamstring) were both listed as doubtful heading into the Steelers Christmas matchup with the Ravens. Jesse James will start at tight end in place of Green while Cobi Hamilton and Darrius Heyward-Bey will take over for Coates' snaps. Of course, they're all very risky options as the majority of targets will go to Antonio Brown, Le'Veon Bell, and to a lesser extent, Eli Rogers. Brown and Bell have combined for over 50% of Pittsburgh's total receptions. Baltimore's best corner, Jimmy Smith, is inactive, which places Brown in an excellent spot. Both he and Bell will surely come with high ownership on the Christmas slate.

Markus Wheaton and Darrius Heyward-Bey out for Steelers this week

The two Steelers WR's missed practice on Friday and are out for their game against the Cowboys this week. Eli Rogers and Sammie Coates will operate as the two WR's opposite Antonio Brown and are worthy of GPP consideration with Pittsburgh at home in a game that has one of the highest totals of the week. Rogers is the more consistent of the two but Coates (as shown earlier in the season) has more big play upside.

Darrius Heyward-Bey will start over Markus Wheaton

Heyward-Bey is now listed as a starting wide receiver for the Steelers, ahead of Markus Wheaton. Heyward-Bey caught three of his seven targets for 30 yards and a touchdown against the Patriots in Week 8. Coach Mike Tomlin was impressed enough (and/or disappointed in Wheaton's poor performances) to permanently promote him. He won't be worth much in fantasy until Ben Roethlisberger returns to full health, and even at that point he'll be nothing more than a tournament flier until proven otherwise.

Sammie Coates has sizeable cast on his hand; status uncertain for this week

Coates is limited in practice thus far this week with a sizeable cast on his hand after suffering a cut to his left hand. He's considered day-to-day and his status for this week is uncertain. If he can't go, Markus Wheaton and Darrius Heyward-Bey could see an increased role going against a bad Dolphins defense. We'll keep you updated on Coates status throughout the week as his presence is a difference maker for the Steelers passing attack.

Eli Rogers to remain out this week

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin stated this morning that Eli Rogers would remain out. Markus Wheaton remains the #2 WR but Sammie Coates and Darrius Heyward-Bey will receive more opportunities with Rogers not playing. Both found the end zone last week and are high-risk, high-reward GPP options.

Eli Rogers very questionable for this weeks game

Steelers Head Coach Mike Tomlin stated that Eli Rogers is very questionable to play this weekend. That would be a slight bump in usage for Sammie Coates and Darrius Heyward-Bey might see more run as well. We'll keep an eye on the Steelers WR situation as the week unfolds and update you if anything changes.

Markus Wheaton will rotate with Coates and Heyward-Bey at WR

After missing the first two games with a shoulder injury, Markus Wheaton will return this week. He likely won't have the role he originally planned on though. The Steelers plan to rotate Wheaton, Sammie Coates and Darrius Heyward-Bey at WR opposite Antonio Brown. Without a clear idea of how many snaps each will see the prudent move here is to avoid all Pittsburgh WRs not named Antonio Brown until we get clarity.

Markus Wheaton ruled out for Monday night; Matt Jones is active

This news was expected throughout the week and opens up the door for the likes of Sammie Coates, Eli Rogers and Darrius Heyward-Bey to see extra looks alongside Antonio Brown. Rogers is the most intriguing of the bunch as he figures to run out of the slot, but Coates is a fine GPP punt play as well if you're playing the Primetime slate. DeAngelo Williams and Jesse James may be next in line for looks behind Brown, so all of the Steelers complementary WRs have very low floors. On the Washington side, Matt Jones is active as expected. Robert Kelley figures to see some run behind Jones with Chris Thompson seeing the field in passing situations.
