Home Ice: No Problem
Patrice Bergeron has suited up for 55 games this season and has done a fabulous job in those games that he has played in. 65 points is what he has been credited with which ranks him 13th in the league where points-per-game are concerned. A funny thing happens though when you toggle the venue from all to just home games as the 46 points he has registered in the 30 home games he has played in has him behind only Connor McDavid and Nikita Kucherov with a whopping 1.53 points-per-game on home ice. Evidently the Bruins know how to line-match pretty well as their 27-7-3 record in front of the home crowd is second only to the league leading Tampa Bay Lightning. Brad Marchand has been his line mate for most of the 55 games that Bergeron has played in while David Backes, provided he stays on that top line this evening, will surely help you out salary-wise.
Fresh legs for this Boston forward
David Backes returned from his suspension on Tuesday and looked fresh as he logged nearly 18 minutes and fired four shots on net. The veteran forward is slated to center David Pastrnak and (likely) Jake DeBrusk this evening as the Bruins head to South Florida to battle the Florida Panthers. Backes is net-front presence on the Bruin's second power-play unit, where he should see some added playing time tonight as the Florida Panthers are currently the third most penalized team in the NHL (774 PIMS). Backes may not be the most exciting option to roster, but his consistency is an asset at this moderate price-range.
