The Putting God Needs to Keep up the Solid Ball Striking
McCarthy doesn’t have as many high finishes as I’d like to see, but at this price point he doesn’t exactly need a top 10 to pay off his salary. We don’t have any ShotLink data from the event last week, but he led the field in driving accuracy and hit just under 70% of greens. After being one of the worst putters on tour the first seven months of the season, he gained 12.8 strokes on approach in a four-event stretch (the best run in his career). Strangely enough, this is when he started struggling with the putter (golf, right?). If his ball striking continues to be better and he ultimately shows that he’s still the best putter on tour, a win should be in his future. At the very least, we can expect some high finishes soon. It doesn’t hurt that he’s posted back-to-back top 20 finishes at this event the last two seasons.
K.H. Lee has been added to the player pool
As we approach the start of The Heritage Classic DFS pricing pools across multiple sites have added missing players. K.H. Lee has been added on both FanDuel and DraftKings. Colt Knost, Denny McCarthy, and Peter Malnati have been added to FanDuel.
Weather update for The Corales Puntacana Resort & Championship
Kevin Roth's Weather report for the second tour event of the week is up in the main forum. With similar weather patterns on both Thursday and Friday, there appears to be no projected benefit to either tee time wave. With winds not expected to pass 15mph each day and only a chance for some thunderstorms late Friday the weather should rank very low in your roster choices this week.
Denny McCarthy is no longer in the field
PGA Tour rookie Denny McCarthy has withdrawn early from an event for the second week in a row. Currently, on outside the top 125 in the FedEx Cup race, every start missed by McCarthy puts him further away from obtaining his tour card for next season. McCarthy has yet to release any official news associated with is withdrawal and will be replaced in the field by John Merrick.
