Big discount on young Vancouver defenseman

For whatever reason, Derrick Pouliot's price has plunged from $4,300 on 11/13 to $2,700 tonight on DraftKings. Perhaps it's his six consecutive games without a point, all of which came on the road, that is the reason for the price drop. Whatever the reason may be, such a price tag on a defenseman seeing top power play minutes with super talent Elias Pettersson has to be taken advantage of. Pouliot is still reasonable on FanDuel ($3,700), but there are other guys roughly $1,000 more (e.g. Thomas Chabot, Ryan Ellis, Oscar Klefbom, Seth Jones) that rate as better plays. Vancouver is surprisingly averaging 3.57 goals per game on home ice and will get a crack at Carey Price, who despite turning in a gem last time out, has really struggled on the season. As always with someone like Pouliot, temper your expectations, but his price is really attractive now that he's back on home ice against a beatable opponent.

Vancouver blue liner looks to build off strong performance

Derrick Pouliot recorded a season-high five shots on goal last time out in a wild and entertaining game against the Colorado Avalanche. His final shot came in overtime to see the deal as the Canucks went on to win 7-6. With the injury to Alexander Edler, Pouliot has taken on a bigger role, especially on the team's top power play unit with the explosive Elias Pettersson. Pouliot logged a career-high in ice time (25:26) last time out. Derrick still checks in at a sub-$4,000 price across the industry, making him a worthwhile option from the blue line in a plus matchup against a poor Detroit squad.

Rock bottom pricing on Vancouver defenseman

Derrick Pouliot does not see steady minutes, but he is averaging nearly 17 minutes a game and sees power play time. After rotting in Pittsburgh for several years, Pouliot posted 22 points in 71 games - a career high. The former number eight overall pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft still has room to grow. He has six shots on goal to go along with a pair of assists this season. At $2,600 on DraftKings and $3,500 on FanDuel, there is some merit to punting with Pouliot in order to spend up elsewhere.
