Devan Dubnyk Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Low Risk / High Reward Goalie

On a night that lacks plenty of quality options to choose from in net, paying up for a safe option in net will be an optimal strategy, even in tournaments. One such "safe" option for me tonight is Dubnyk, who draws a home matchup against an inconsistent Kings team that has generated the fewest high danger scoring chances on tonight's slate over their past 10 road games. With a 19-4-5 record which includes a solid .927 SV% at home, Dubnyk has the luxury of playing on one of the league's best defensive teams as Minnesota allows the fewest scoring chances on home ice this season. In what projects to be a tight, physical game with few goals exchanged between both teams, Dubnyk has the potential to carry you to the top of a GPP with the plethora of low percentage shots he'll likely face tonight.

Top Overall Goalie Tonight

On a night that lacks plenty of quality options to choose from in net, paying up for a safe option in net will be an optimal strategy, even in tournaments. One such "safe" option for me tonight is Dubnyk, who draws a juicy home matchup against a struggling Avalanche team that owns the worst adjusted xGF/60 over their past 20 games among teams on tonight's slate. With a 19-3-5 record which includes a solid .931 SV% at home, Dubnyk has the luxury of playing on one of the league's best defensive teams as Minnesota allows the fewest scoring chances on home ice this season. In what projects to be a tight, physical game with few goals exchanged between both teams, Dubnyk has the potential to carry you to the top of a GPP with the plethora of low percentage shots he'll likely face tonight.

This goaltender is a big road favourite

While the Minnesota Wild are not the biggest favourite on the board, they are a -165 road favourite which is pretty huge. They are in Vancouver to take on the Canucks who lost Brock Boeser for the season earlier this week. This season has not been a good one for Vancouver and that should continue again tonight. Dubnyk has struggled a good bit on the road this season, but this is definitely the kind of road mathcup that can dismiss those numbers. Vancouver has a 53.83 CF/60 this season which is the third lowest in the NHL. While Dubnyk may not face many shots, he should be able to steer them aside and add to his win total.

This home goalie is taking on a team that struggles to score

Sometimes it is risky using a goalie facing a terrible team because if the goalie has an off game and lets in a few goals against a team that doesn't take many shots, it is hard for them to recover. However, if they are on their game than they can certainly put up a tournament winning score. Tonight, Devan Dubnyk and the Minnesota Wild host the Detroit Red Wings, a team that struggles to score. Detroit averages just 2.58 goals per game which is fifth worst in the NHL. They also don't shoot much, but if Dubnyk plays how he can, especially as a -210 favourite (which is the biggest on the day) than he should be able to put up a big score despite the hefty price tag.

Pick On A Struggling Offense With This Elite Netminder

On a night with plenty of quality options to choose from in net, paying up for a safe option in net will be an optimal strategy, even in tournaments. One such "safe" option for me tonight is Dubnyk, who draws a juicy home matchup against a struggling St. Louis team that has scored just seven goals during a six game losing streak. With a 16-3-5 record which includes a solid .931 SV% at home, Dubnyk has the luxury of playing on one of the league's best defensive teams as Minnesota allows the fewest scoring chances on home ice this season. In what projects to be a tight, physical game with few goals exchanged between both teams, Dubnyk has the potential to carry you to the top of a GPP with the plethora of low percentage shots he'll likely face tonight.

Minnesota Defense Enjoys the Home Cooking

Though the Sharks are not the worst offense on the slate today, they have the dubious honor of trying to spark the offense in Minnesota. In the Land O’ Lakes, the Wild are in the upper crust of best defensive teams on home ice. So far this year, the Wild have limiting opposing offenses to the second lowest rate of scoring chances and the lowest rate of high-danger shot attempts per hour at 5v5. Minnesota keeps shots attempts to the low probability parts of the ice, setting up Dubnyk for a nice shot total against a San Jose offense that should avoid getting completely smothered. With a high quantity and low quality of shots faced, and offensive support likely to be present, Dubnyk has nice upside tonight.

Top Goalie Tonight?

Minnesota Wild goaltender Devan Dubnyk is once again at the top of cash game list on this Thursday evening. Despite allowing over 32 shots against per game, the Wild continue to suppress scoring chances and high-danger scoring attempts as well as any team in the National Hockey League, simply allowing a lot of harmless shots on goal. This allows Dubnyk to pad his saves totals on a nightly basis, which certainly works for us daily fantasy players. Also working in Dubnyks favor tonight is the Arizona Coyotes lack of scoring (30th overall in goals per game), putting the Wilds goaltender in the best spot tonight for both a win and a shutout.

Don't Get Cute With Goalie Selection Tonight

On a night with plenty of quality options to choose from in net, paying up for a safe option in net will be an optimal strategy, even in tournaments. One such "safe" option for me tonight is Dubnyk, who draws a fantastic home matchup against the league's worst team in Arizona. With a 13-2-3 record which includes a solid .930 SV% at home, Dubnyk has the luxury of playing on one of the league's best defensive teams as Minnesota allows the fewest scoring chances on home ice this season. In what projects to be a tight, physical game with few goals exchanged between both teams, Dubnyk has the potential to carry you to the top of a GPP with the plethora of low percentage shots he'll likely face tonight.

Top Goalie Tonight

The Minnesota Wild continue to allow a decent amount of shots against per game (32.2 shots against per game, 11th-most overall), but as one of the leagues best teams at suppressing scoring chances and high-danger shots, most of these shots are from the perimeter and rarely do any damage. In other words, Devan Dubnyk should make plenty of saves tonight as he cruises to an easy victory. In cash games, rostering the goalie facing the Buffalo Sabres has been a winning strategy all season long, and that is once again the game plan this evening. Despite averaging over 30 shots per game, the Sabres just cant seem to score goals in 2017-18, producing just 2.21 goals per game, which has them in the basement of the National Hockey League. Dubnyk has been outstanding in goal for more than a month now, and I expect another strong performance from him tonight at the Xcel Energy Center.

Low Risk, High Reward Goalie

After struggling early in his career playing on terrible teams, Devan Dubnyk has finally found a comfortable home in Minnesota where he has solidified himself as an elite starting goaltender. Entering tonight's game with an 8-2-2 record which includes a stellar .930 SV% on home ice, Dubnyk draws a great matchup against a Florida Panthers team that ranks dead last in scoring on the road this season. This bodes well for Dubnyk, who has the luxury of playing on one of the league's best defensive teams as Minnesota is capable of shutting down teams that lack quality scoring depth. In what projects to be a tight, physical game with few goals exchanged between both teams, Dubnyk has the potential to carry you to the top of a GPP if he's able to get enough goal support to emerge with the victory.
