Dmitrij Jaskin Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

This line stands out tonight in an elite spot.

The Washington Capitals are hosting a Pittsburgh Penguins team that has struggled as of late. They have allowed 19 goals over their last four games which included three losses on home ice and back to back losses to the New York Islanders to start the skid. Matt Murray has been brutal this season with a 3.87 GAA and .886 SV% which bodes well for the Capitals tonight. The top line is an elite play with Alex Ovechkin playing with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Dmitrij Jaskin. The full-stack is in play, but leaving Jaskin off and going with a two-man mini-stack makes sense as Ovy and Kuz play on the top power play unit together.

Revolving door on Capitals' top line

With his strong play the other night against Dallas when he recorded an assist with three shots on goal, Dmitrij Jaskin has been promoted to the top line with Evgeny Kuznetsov and Alex Ovechkin. Jaskin is not very good offensively, as his strength is on the defensive end, and of course, there's no guarantee he will stay on the top line, nor does he see power play time, but at $2,700 on DraftKings and $3,000 on FanDuel, it's tough to pass on the salary relief given the star power available tonight.

Jaskin Finally Has the Opportunity

The tall Czech (who I now know was born in Russia) has been given a golden ticket as a member of the second line with Jaden Schwartz hurt. Well, it could be argued it is the top line, but the point is he is out of the bottom six and playing increased minutes with talented forwards. Jaskin has always had the underlying numbers -- he trails just Tarasenko with a 15.7 iCF/60 and leads the Blues by a country mile with an iHDCF/60 of 5.42 -- and now he has the opportunity to put them to use. The Jets have good defensive numbers at 5v5, but Jaskin is playing on a line that has generally been able to overcome tough matchups. Though Jaskin sees only secondary power play time, he is facing one of the worst penalty killing teams in the league. His shooting profile sets him up as a nice value play that can easily pay off his low salary given his role and exposure.
