Doug Ghim Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Field Update Valspar Championship

Paul Casey, Doug Gihm and Sebastián Muñoz are all no longer in the field. As a two time champion of this event Paul Casey will be a big miss for this week's event. Bronson Burgoon, Austin Cook, and Dylan Wu have gained entry into this week's field and will get projections once they are added to the pricing pool.

Doug Ghim looks to build on a solid start to his rookie season

Doug Ghim and Scottie Scheffler battled together as teammates for the Texas Longhorns. The line between who was a better player while teammates at Texas was always very thin. Ghim played his way to the number one ranking in the world of amateur golf toward the end of their careers, but both players enjoyed high levels of success as an amateur. Fast forward some 15 months later and Scheffler is by far in the lead in terms of making an impact as a professional golfer. That being said, Ghim is still a great talent and is a player we can roster at both a great discount in price and in ownership. His style of golf is not flashy, but Ghim is an all-around player that should cut out a niche on Tour. Looking to improve on a top 35 finish in his first event as a Tour member, Ghim is still very cheap this week and is a great option to find value in a wide range of roster builds.

Doug Ghim set to make his first PGA Tour start as a full time member

Unable to pull off the feat of earning a PGA Tour card through a handfull of events towards the end of the 2018 season, Doug Ghim had to earn his way to the big leagues via a season on The Korn Ferry Tour. Entering the final stretch of this year's Korn Ferry Tour, Ghim played the golf he needed over the final three events to earn his spot on the PGA Tour this season. This former number one amateur player in the world should have the game to compete on the PGA Tour for many years to come and is a golfer we should keep an eye on during the wrap-around season. Ghim is currently projected to have a low ownership number this week and has the type of game that translates well to this type of course. In terms of trying to quantify price with talent, the unproven commodity that is Doug Ghim is worth taking a shot on in GPP's for the first PGA Tour event of the 2020 season.

Doug Ghim looks to make the most of a sponsors invite

Almost a year to this day, Doug Ghim took home The Ben Hogan Award at a ceremony held at Colonial Country Club. The prestigious Hogan Award is given to the nations top golfer. Ghim is only the second Texas Longhorn to win this award. Now playing in his rookie season as a professional, Ghim will have to earn his card through the Web.com Tour. Currently ranked just inside the top 50 in the points race, Ghim will need a strong finish to his season in order to guarantee a 2019 Tour card. With a handful of PGA starts under his belt, including a T12 at the Byron Nelson two weeks ago, Ghim enters this week looking to build on what for the most part has been a successful start to his professional debut. Not the longest of hitters on tour, Ghim should find a course like Colonial to his liking.

A pair of former Texas Longhorns look to make the most of a sponsors invite

A pair of former college standouts at The University of Texas will look to take advantage of a friendly invite to play in this week's Byron Nelson. Like many other successful former collegiate standouts before them, Doug Ghim and Scottie Scheffler are looking to play their way onto the PGA Tour via the Web.com Tour. Both players will take a week off from that tour to play in this week's PGA Tour event. Fueled by a handful of top finishes, Scheffler is having a better season than Ghim, but both players are considered by many to have the game needed to make it at the next level. Due to his strong play this season Scheffler is priced significantly higher than Ghim on both FanDuel and DraftKings, thus making him harder to fit into rosters builds for the week. With a handful of starts on the PGA Tour under their belt, both players have enough experience to play well this week. Scheffler grew up in the Dallas area and will have plenty of local support for the week.

Doug Ghim looks to make the most of his limited opportunities

Just a few months removed from being the top amateur in the county, Doug Ghim is quickly making a name for himself in the world of professional golf. Having to earn his Web.com Tour card through qualifying school, Ghim is not a full member of the PGA Tour as of yet but will look to make the most of the sponsors invites he can get this season. Currently ranked inside the top 25 on The Web.com Tour money list and playing in his 4th PGA Tour start of the year, Ghim is looking to build on a bit of momentum gained in his last few starts. Prior to his T3 at The Country Club de Bogota Championship Ghim finished inside the top 20 at Torrey Pines. Still relatively cheap across the industry Ghim is a player worth taking a shot on in GPP's this week. Already in a great spot to start the season, Ghim has taken some of the pressure off his shoulders and should be in a good spot to once again play well this week.

Start The Bandwagon!

If you are not familiar with Ghim, you’re not alone. However, we know that the key is to get on the right bandwagons BEFORE the masses hop aboard. It worked with Im in January, and I hope it works with Ghim this month. The 22 year old is finally finding his feet on the professional Tours, and his last PGA Tour start resulted in a 20th place finish at the Farmers Insurance Open. He also added a top five finish on the Web.Com Tour last week. This is a player who was the top amateur in the world not too long ago, and he could be ready to go on a run like we have seen with Sungjae Im. Buy in before the masses catch on, especially at the bare minimum price tag on FanDuel.

Doug Ghim set to make his professional debut

Former University Of Texas standout and current number one ranked amateur in the world Doug Ghim will make his professional debut at this week's Travelers Championship. Over the past few years, we have seen the trend of accomplished elite level amateur golf translate somewhat seamlessly into success on The PGA Tour. Unlike some other big named players before him, Ghim chose to play all four years at Texas before turning pro. Armed with a ton of experience Ghim will look to become the next big named amateur player to make a splash on the PGA Tour. In his pre-tournament interview today Ghin hinted that he is hopeful to draw from the advice of fellow Longhorn Jordan Spieth. Ghim plans to set the bar high but realizes that he must also have patience in the journey ahead. Turning pro this late in the season means that Ghim will have to rely on the Web.com tour to gain access to the tour, but for now, he is just focused on this week. Currently projected to go way under the radar this week, Ghim is the type of tournament pick that could really stand out in terms of a pivot off other players in the 7k price range.
