This winger is showing that his rookie season was no fluke
Sophomore slump? Not for Alex DeBrincat. He has been absolutely dominant this season with 38 goals and 71 points in 71 games this season. He has solidified the second line to give the Chicago Blackhawks two players in himself and Patrick Kane that can carry a line and allow the Blackhawks to have a surprising top sixth depth that was unexpected coming into the season. Playing alongside mid-season acquisitions in Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini, this line was formed over the last few weeks and has been fantastic ever since. A matchup against the Vancouver Canucks who are on the tail-end of a back-to-back is a great one.
A change of scenery was what this winger needed to turn his career around
The Chicago Blackhawks and Toronto Maple Leafs are likely to end up in a back-and-forth matchup tonight that should produce plenty of offense. The "third" line for the Blackhawks is comprised of Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome and Brendan Perlini and it has been solid. Perlini even scored a hat trick last game which is quite something. Strome needed a change of scenery — and quite frankly to be given a fair opportunity — and boy has he taken advantage. Since coming to Chicago, Strome has put up 14 goals and 41 points in 44 games and looks to be producing like the 3rd overall pick he is.
Center continues to shine for surging Blackhawks
A creative way to approach the Patrick Kane chalk tonight is to go with a power play stack and Dylan Strome is a pivotal piece of that. After rotting in the desert for his first several seasons, Strome is shining in Chicago. The 6' 3" center has 32 points (11G, 21A) in 35 games as his confidence continues to soar. The Ottawa Senators continue to allow an alarming rate of chances per 60 minutes at 5-on-5 (66.40 CA/60) which adds to Strome's value at even-strength alongside Alex DeBrincat and Dominik Kahun - a trio that has shown considerable chemistry for the Blackhawks. Strome is an excellent target in tournaments.
