Eric Ebron Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

PIT TE Eric Ebron likely to miss time with knee injury; TE Kevin Rader signed to 53-man roster

Eric Ebron is likely to miss time with knee injury while Kevin Rader has been signed to the 53-man roster ahead of the Steelers matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday. Eric Ebron is seeking a second opinion but all signs point to him requiring surgery likely knocking him out for multiple weeks. The Steelers are being proactive and have signed Rader to the active roster and also signed Jace Sternberger to the practice squad. Rader is expected to serve as tight end depth with Pat Freiermuth continuing in his role as the top tight end for the Steelers.

PIT TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) DNP Thursday

Eric Ebron logged a DNP Thursday ahead of the Steelers Monday night matchup with the Chicago Bears. Ebron is trying to return this week after dealing with a hamstring injury and will have two more days to log a practice. Pat Freiermuth is the top tight end for the Steelers and if Ebron were to miss Zach Gentry would serve as his backup. Ebron is not DFS relevant but could be considered as a dart throw punt option with touchdown upside if he is available for the Monday night showdown slate.

PIT TE Eric Ebron ruled out Sunday

After picking up a hamstring injury during Thursday's practice, Ebron was unable to practice Friday and was ultimately ruled out against the Cleveland Browns. Ebron has been splitting TE snaps with Pat Freiermuth all year, and Friermuth's routes and snaps are slowly ticking up. In the Steelers last game (two weeks ago before their bye), he picked up 7 catches for 58 yards. He'll likely be one of the top options at TE, as he should have a high floor for the Steelers and who are down Ebron and Juju Smith-Schuster, who is out of the year. A few more targets may condense onto Najee Harris, Diontae Johnson, and Claypool. Freiermuth's cheap salary should open up room for the high powered options on the main slate.

PIT WR Chase Claypool fully practices; TE Eric Ebron limited

Claypool was upgraded from limited to a full practice, and appears to be good to as the Steelers prepare to play the Cleveland Browns. The more concerning injury is Ebron, who popped up on the injury report with a hamstring injury after not being listed on the report yesterday. If he were to sit, it would be a huge bump up for Pat Freiermuth, as the rookie TE would be poised for a big increase in snaps, and would likely be a top TE. Ebron has played through injury before so tomorrow will bear watching.

PIT WR Diontae Johnson, QB Ben Roethlisberger, and TE Eric Ebron DNP Wednesday

Diontae Johnson, Ben Roethlisberger, and Eric Ebron all missed practice on Wednesday for the Steelers. The big news here is Johnson's absence who was seen limping after the game on Sunday. Roethlisberger is expected to play despite his pectoral injury and Ebron was held out due to a coach's decision likely for rest. If Johnson is unable to go on Sunday both JuJu Smith-Schuster and Chase Claypool would see bumps. This situation is definitely worth monitoring throughout the rest of the week ahead of the Steelers' matchup with the Bengals this Sunday.

PIT TE Eric Ebron (hamstring) DNP Thursday

Ebron popped up as a DNP due to a hamstring injury, a new injury as he was full yesterday. Ebron is one of the more veteran players, so it could be another precautionary hold out. If he does end up sitting, Pat Freiermuth would likely step in and be a cheap value.

Eric Ebron placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list

Eric Ebron has been placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list, meaning he will be out for Week 17. However, if he continues to test negative, he should be eligible to play in the playoffs. Vance McDonald will work as the top TE, with Kevin Rader behind him.

Vance McDonald active Sunday

Vance McDonald is officially active Sunday for Pittsburgh and will work behind Eric Ebron. His role in the offense is limited this season, so he is a completely TD-dependent play.

Eric Ebron (Ankles) Headed to IR; Colts Sign TE Ross Travis

Eric Ebron's season is over, as he is headed to the injured reserve due to issues with both ankles. Ebron had been dealing with the ankle issues for nearly a month but had not missed a game this season. Jack Doyle should get a chance to be the top TE, while Ross Travis was signed Monday to provide depth. Mo Alie-Cox also remains on the active roster and is expected to be the second-string TE.
