Fitzgerald Toussaint Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Roethlisberger, Bell, and Brown all inactive Sunday, as expected
Landry Jones will start under center and his primary target will be Eli Rogers. DeAngelo Williams will split time with Fitzgerald Touissant in place of Le'Veon Bell. Williams is expected to get a good amount of work in order to get ready for the playoffs, but it's his first game since early November, so he will probably be somewhat limited. Pittsburgh has a good matchup against the Browns, but it's still hard to trust Jones to do well, which puts a damper on Rogers' fantasy value, and the backfield timeshare makes Williams and Touissant risky options as well.
Steelers Big 3 officially confirmed out this week
This only confirms what has been expected all week as Pittsburgh Head Coach Mike Tomlin confirmed that Bell, Brown, and Big Ben would all be out this week. Landry Jones, Fitzgerald Toussaint, and Eli Rogers (along with Cobi Hamilton) all provide sources of value this weekend as the Steelers have a plus match up against the Browns.
DeAngelo Williams OUT for Steelers this weekend
This would have been big news the first few weeks of the season but with Le'Veon Bell back in the fold it's just a minor blip on the radar. Fitzgerald Toussaint will likely back up Bell but is not a viable DFS play.
DeAngelo Williams officially OUT for this week
As expected, Williams will miss this weeks game joining WR Antonio Brown on the sidelines. Fitzgerald Toussaint will likely get the start and while it's not the best match up going against a tough Broncos defense, he's definitely in play on this playoff slate, especially on PPR sites like DraftKings where his value increases due to his usage in the passing game (especially with Big Ben banged up and likely having to dump off often). Jordan Todman should also continue to see some snaps but Toussaint is the preferred option.
DeAngelo Williams status remains uncertain, visiting foot specialist
DeAngelo Williams' status for this weekend is still up in the air, and it doesn't seem like he's any better than a 50-50 shot to suit up. Fitz Toussaint and Jordan Todman filled in admirably considering neither back had seen much work during the regular season, with Toussaint being the bigger factor overall. Toussaint would remain a viable punt play if he draws another start, but neither him or Todman would be viable if Williams returns. The Pittsburgh backfield does not have a good draw against a stout Denver defense, but Williams would be a viable GPP option if he returns. He'd still be a few tiers below David Johnson as far as potential RB plays go.
DeAngelo Williams misses another practice Thursday
He probably doesn't have to practice in order to play, but it's still looking like DeAngelo Williams is very doubtful to suit up against the Bengals. Fitzgerald Toussaint should draw the start with Jordan Todman helping out in relief, while the passing game will take on more of the burden against a Cincinnati defense that stifled them in two games earlier this season.
DeAngelo Williams still in a walking boot
DeAngelo Williams remains in a walking boot on Wednesday and there still isn't a definitive timetable for when it may come off. It's looking more and more likely that Williams won't be able to play this weekend, which will lead to Fitzgerald Touissaint drawing the start with Jordan Todman acting in a complementary role. Toussaint is the stronger play of the two, but the Steelers passing game is the unit to target despite them having two down performances against this defense earlier in the year. Ben Roethlisberger still has one of the highest floors/ceilings among all QBs taking the field, and Antonio Brown remains the premier play at WR. Martavis Bryant is a very nice bounce back candidate after a few down weeks.
