Gerardo Parra Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Victor Robles scratched Saturday; Gerardo Parra replaces

Robles has been scratched from the Washington Nationals original confirmed lineup and will not start in Saturday’s matchup against the Cleveland Cavaliers due to an illness. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Gerardo Parra, who will now play center field and slot directly into Robles' vacated seventh spot in the order. However, the remainder of the Nationals lineup will stay intact offensively as they face off against right-hander Adam Plutko at home this afternoon.

Great Hitting Environment For Lefties

The Nationals are sporting a 4.7 implied run total and I think it's low for the wind somewhat blowing out in Atlanta against an attackable pitcher in Julio Teheran. Historically, he has significantly worse splits versus lefties and the Nats will likely have three in their lineup priced under $4k on DraftKings in Adams, Cabrera & Parra. In large-field GPPs you can pair these three with fellow lefty Juan Soto and either Turner or Suzuki who can fill a scarce C/SS position for a 5-man stack at a $21k combined price.

Adam Eaton scratched Tuesday; Gerardo Parra replaces

Eaton has been scratched from the Washington Nationals original confirmed lineup and will not start in Tuesday’s matchup against the San Francisco Giants due to a presently unspecified reason. He’ll be replaced in the lineup by Gerardo Parra, who will now play right field and slot directly into Eaton’s vacated second spot in the order. However, the remainder of the Nationals lineup will stay intact offensively as they face off against left-hander Conner Menez on the road this evening.

Nationals have highest total on the slate vs. Royals’ Sparkman

Glenn Sparkman has pitched to a 5.09 ERA / 5.66 xFIP / 5.51 SIERA this year with just a 12.1% K rate, 5.9% BB rate and 6.7% SwStr. He’s also allowed a 42% hard contact rate, a .372 xwOBA, 8.7% barrel rate and a 91.4 MPH aEV. Over the past 30 days, Sparkman has been even worse with a 6.59 ERA, 6.18 xFIP and 6.01 SIERA with a 9.8% K rate, 5.7% SwStr and a .373 xwOBA allowed. Sparkman simply does not miss nearly enough bats to get hitters out, and as a result is one of the safer pitchers to stack against. Anthony Rendon (149 wRC+, .305 ISO vs. RHP this year), Juan Soto (146 wRC+, .228 ISO), Trea Turner (114 wRC+, .230 ISO), Adam Eaton (98 wRC+, .103 ISO) and Gerardo Parra (95 wRC+, .191 ISO) are all good options in the Nats’ projected lineup this afternoon. Ryan Zimmerman (78 wRC+, .203 ISO) has lacked production this year but does own a career 109 wRC+ vs. RHP. Eaton, Zimmerman and Parra will all be available under $4k on Draftkings, while sluggers Rendon, Soto and Turner will all require $5k+ each. Soto has been the Nats’ hottest hitter over the past month with a 151 wRC+. The Nats currently have a 6.73 implied total vs. Sparkman and the Royals and figure to be a pretty popular stack on the afternoon slate.

Park upgrade and favorable matchup brings value to these bats

Players looking for some cheap bats may want to turn their eyes towards Toronto this evening. After a hot start, Trent Thornton has struggled against some of the better offenses he’s faced recently. San Francisco is not one of those, but there are some alarming trends in his profile, including a 90.5 Z-Contact% that’s worst on the board. He’s allowed a 29.4 LD%, 19 HR/FB, 92.3 mph aEV and 15.7% Barrels/BBE. He’s had particular problems with LHBs (.414 wOBA, 52 Hard%, 32 GB%). Brandon Belt (114 wRC+, .185 ISO vs RHP last calendar year) has been “freed” from a terrible park in San Francisco tonight with a strong park upgrade here. Pablo Sandoval (121 wRC+, .198 ISO) has shown surprising competency from the left side of the plate over the last year. Even Steven Duggar (75 wRC+, .164 ISO) and Gerardo Parra (101 wRC+, .106 ISO) may have some value here at low cost atop the lineup. Implied for just over four runs, Giants’ bats are not projected to be particularly popular tonight and could provide a path to some of the more expensive bats in better projected offenses tonight.

They Are Facing a Good Pitcher, But It's Coors

The Rockies will almost certainly not have as much traction tonight as the two teams in Texas, and this will be one of the rare spots where we can get them as somewhat of a contrarian GPP stack. Yes. Charlie Morton is very good, but there is a path to a big game from the Rockies. It's always possible in their home park, and Morton does have command issues at times with a nearly 10% walk rate on the year. Charlie Blackmon is the only hitter I would recommend for cash games, but I love the full GPP stack in the hopes that Morton doesn't have his top command tonight and is forced from the game early.

The Clear-Cut Top Offense

So... this probably isn't going to go well for the Mariners. James Paxton lasted only two-thirds of an inning last night, and the Mariners had to use six bullpen arms to get through the game against the Angels. Now, they travel to Coors Field and are using Christian Bergman as a fill-in starter in place of the injured Felix Hernandez. Oh, and the Rockies just happen to be coming off back-to-back wins while scoring 24 runs in their last two games. This could get ugly. Every Colorado bat from top to bottom is in play here, and I'd suggest a full stack in tournament formats.

The Place To Play

There is a lot of good offense tonight, but Coors Field would be a dangerous fade, and the Rockies left-handed bats look to have the clear advantage over Chris Stratton. Stratton has an awful 14% strikeout rate with 10.8% walks, no ground ball lean and above average 38% hard hits allowed. He has skated by with a .290 BABIP and 9.8% HR/FB rate, but this is not the place to come looking for more help in those areas. Gerardo Parra is the affordable lefty here, but he's not just a salary play, with plenty to like in his 40% hard hits and 29% line drives along with low strikeouts against right-handed pitching.

Left-handed hitters have a .405 wOBA, 0.0 K-BB% and 21.7 GB% against Jeff Samardzija this year

As they generally do at home, the Rockies have the top run line on the board (5.97) with only one other team within a half run. Tonight they face Jeff Samardzija, who has held RHBs below a .300 wOBA and xwOBA since last season, but LHBs have a .334 wOBA and .348 xwOBA. While this year alone, RHBs are still below .300, LHBs have a .405 wOBA with a 0.0 K-BB% and 21.7 GB%. Three of the top four in the lineup are LHBs tonight. Charlie Blackmon (139 wRC+, .283 ISO vs RHP last calendar year) should rake. Carlos Gonzalez (119 wRC+, .215 ISO) and Gerardo Parra (91 wRC+, .138 ISO) cost below $4K on either site, the former with a 192 wRC+ and 63.6 Hard% over the last week. Nolan Arenado (112 wRC+, .238 ISO) still plays here, but at a cost equal to Blackmon's. Chris Iannetta (112 wRC+, .240 ISO) costs less than $3.5K, but is batting eighth and the only remaining bat in the lineup above a 61 wRC+ or .300 xwOBA against RHP over the last calendar year.

Cheap Clean Up Hitter In Top Game

Coors is always in play as the top stack of the day. You want to get exposure to this game and a cheap easy way to is with Gerardo Parra. He is too cheap around the industry and is batting cleanup in Coors. This is a no brainer in cash, jam him in and include him in your stacks as well as a nice value bat from this great hitting environment.
