New opportunity in St. Louis following yesterday's big move
With Paul Stastny surprisingly shipped out at yesterday's trade deadline, St. Louis will look to regroup as they're just one point out of a playoff spot. Stastny's absence has opened the door for a new top-six center and it looks like Mike Yeo will give Ivan Barbashev the first crack at the position. The former second-round draft pick racked up 19 goals and 18 assists in 47 games with the AHL's Chicago Wolves last season and has flashed some offensive creativity in his limited opportunities with the big club. Barbashev is slated to center Vladimir Tarasenko and Alex Steen on St. Louis' top forward line and, while the matchup is a tough on in Minnesota, this figures to be a very angry hockey club tonight.
Multi-Goal Upside For This Line Tonight
If you're looking to pick on a struggling team on the tail end of a back to back, consider taking the top line of the Blues, which features Paul Stastny, Vladimir Tarasenko, and Ivan Barbashev. With 25 points in as many home games this season, Tarasenko has quietly put together another fantastic offensive season for the Blues. They draw a fantastic matchup against a weak Ottawa Senators team that allows the most scoring chances among road teams on tonight's slate. Also featured on the top power play for St. Louis, Stastny and Tarasenko should be very busy on the man advantage tonight against an Ottawa penalty kill that ranks 29th in the league and has surrendered nine power play goals in eight games this month.
