Avalanche winger looks to get back into scoresheet
J.T. Compher has not done much scoring recently, but in a matchup on home ice against Edmonton, who likely will start Anthony Stolarz, the Avalanche's top six is firmly in play. Colorado is currently sitting in the final wild card spot and cannot afford a slip up given the situational spot tonight against the Oilers whose 74.4% penalty kill rate is the second-worst mark in the National Hockey League. Compher continues to see heavy minutes and opportunity to shine alongside superstar Nathan MacKinnon.
Power play opportunity for Colorado depth center
Nathan MacKinnon is the top play on the slate by a mile, so someone like second line center J.T. Compher could be overlooked despite an uptick in ice time. Last time out, Compher picked up an assist with four shots on goal and logged the most power play time behind the team's top line and Tyson Barrie. In the game prior to that, Compher collected a goal and an assist in St. Louis. J.T. is an interesting target in tournaments, especially as a compliment to the team's top line which has the largest floor and upside of any top line this season.
