Keenan Allen (COVID protocols) has been officially ruled out for Week 17's matchup with the Chiefs. The Chargers will likely get to square off primarily with KC's backups, so this is actually not a bad spot for Justin Herbert and the Chargers offense. It's certainly possible KC utilizes their starters early on Sunday, but playing them the full game with the top seed locked up doesn't seem like a wise proposition. Mike Williams was a target hog in Week 16 and should push for a similar sort of workload here. Jalen Guyton played nearly all the snaps with Allen on the shelf and Tyron Johnson was also on the field for about three quarters of LA's offensive snaps, so both players have appeal as punt GPP plays.

Keenan Allen needed two negative COVID tests within 24 hours, and he got his second on Sunday morning. He is eligible to play despite a sore throat that landed him on the injury report as questionable. Given that we don't know the severity of the sore throat, or any other symptoms he may have, there is still some risk around him related to this illness.

Mike Williams is questionable for Week 5 after sitting out Week 4 with a hamstring injury. Hamstring issues always are risky, even if the player does end up active. He was limited the final two practices of the week after sitting out the first one, so that could be seen as progress. However, if he is out again, Jalen Guyton and Tyron Johnson could see a boost behind top-WR Keenan Allen.

Mike Williams is now reportedly likely to play Week 1, although the team will monitor him pregame before making a final decision. This news is a direct contradiction of what was reported last night, but has been confirmed by multiple sources. Even if active, there has to be some concern about his ability to be productive with this injury, and a limited snap count seems likely. Williams playing would limit the upside for the lower options in the Chargers' offense, such as Jalen Guyton and Joe Reed.
