James Ennis III Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
James Ennis (calf) and Terrence Ross (back) ruled out Saturday
Ennis was ruled out due to a calf injury he suffered last game, while Ross will miss his eighth straight game with back spasms as the Magic prepare to play a rematch with the Memphis Grizzlies. This leaves the Magic with only nine healthy bodies, and some heavy minutes to allocate as a result. Moe Wagner should get the start at power forward like he did yesterday, while Dwayne Bacon should join the starting lineup in place of Ennis. With how shorthanded the Magic are, there isn't much CourtIQ data to glean, but the minutes will be key. Gary Harris and Cole Anthony should each play 32 minutes or more, with Chasson Randle backing them up. Bacon and RJ Hampton will also play big minutes in the wing, while the frontcourt should be handled by Wendell Carter, Mo Bamba, and Moe Wagner. Wagner will be an elite value play; he played 28 minutes yesterday, and may have to do so again at the minimum price. With only nine bodies, the majority of these players will pop in projections due to the sheer minutes there are to be played.
Status update: James Ennis will start Wednesday; will have a minutes limit
Ennis will return to the starting lineup as the Magic prepare to play the Cleveland Cavaliers. Dwayne Bacon will move to the bench as a result, and will likely lose the most minutes as a result. Coach Corbin mentioned that Ennis would be on a minutes limit; it's unlikely he ends up playing enough to be DFS worthy, as he usually doesn't produce well per minute.
James Ennis (calf) listed available Wednesday; Terrence Ross (back) listed out
The Magic will be getting one of their wings back as they prepare to play the Cleveland Cavaliers. Ennis was upgraded from questionable with a calf injury to available, and will return from a five game absence. Ross was downgraded from doubtful with a back injury to out, and will miss his sixth straight game as a result. Ennis will likely take his starting lineup spot back from Dwayne Bacon, although there's a chance Bacon stays in the starting lineup. The Magic will now have 11 healthy bodies, although four of those primarily play center. Heavy minutes should continue for Cole Anthony, but Bacon and Gary Harris may lose a few now that Ennis is back.
Terrence Ross (back) and James Ennis (calf) ruled out Monday

Terrence Ross (back) and James Ennis (calf) listed questionable Monday; Otto Porter Jr. remains out
Terrence Ross (back) and James Ennis (calf) are listed questionable Monday while Otto Porter Jr. remains out for when the Orlando Magic take on the Los Angeles Lakers. Terrence Ross and James Ennis have both missed the last four games. In their absence Dwayne Bacon, RJ Hampton, Cole Anthony and Robert Franks have seen increased minutes and with the loss of Devin Cannady last night they will likely see even more if Ross and Ennis continue to be out.
Terrence Ross (back) and James Ennis (calf) ruled out Sunday; Wendell Carter Jr. (ankle) available to play
The Magic had three questionable players, and will be getting one back as they prepare to play the Indiana Pacers. Carter will be available to return after missing one game with an ankle injury, but Ross and Ennis were ruled out due to their respective back and calf injuries; both players will miss their fourth straight game. With Carter back, he'll likely go back into the starting lineup and will push Mo Bamba to the bench. Dwayne Bacon should continue to start in place of Ennis as he has the last few games. With no Ross and Ennis, it'll likely be more minutes for RJ Hampton, Gary Harris, and Devin Cannady at the wings, along with Bacon.
James Ennis (calf) and Terrence Ross (back) ruled out Thursday
After being listed questionable earlier in the day, both Ennis and Ross were downgraded to out as the Magic prepare to play the New Orleans Pelicans. Both players will miss their third straight game; Ennis with a calf injury, and Ross with back spasms. This is on top of Michael Carter-Williams and Otto Porter both out again. The Magic have run a ten man rotation lately, and it should be the same again today. Dwayne Bacon should stay in the starting lineup in place of Ennis; he's averaged 30 minutes the last two games while starting. With no Ross, the usage will flow to the rest of the team; Cole Anthony, Chuma Okeke, and Wendell Carter will continue to lead the team in usage most likely. The Magic do have a good matchup in the Pelicans, so there's certainly some avenues to fantasy production.
James Ennis (calf) ruled out Sunday
Ennis was listed as questionable due to a calf injury, but was ultimately downgraded to out and will miss the game against the Houston Rockets. Dwayne Bacon willprobably start in his place, with Terrence Ross getting a few more minutes along with RJ Hampton. Ennis has averaged 29 minutes over the last five games, and has been a consistent starter for the team. Ennis doesn’t usually produce at a high rate; he’s around 0.75 FPM per CourtIQ. It's more that the extra minutes that Ross, Gary Harris, and Hampton play that should make them more valuable.
James Ennis III (calf) questionable Sunday
Ennis was added to the injury report with a calf injury, and is questionable to play against the Houston Rockets. Ennis has averaged 29 minutes over the last five games, and has been a consistent starter for the team. Ennis doesn't usually produce at a high rate; he's around 0.75 FPM per CourtIQ. The value in Ennis sitting would come from who picks up his minutes. Dwayne Bacon would probably start in his place, with Terrence Ross getting a few more minutes along with RJ Hampton. Mo Bamba remains questionable; his absence would continue to be a few more minutes for Wendell Carter, and Donta Hall to continue to play as the backup center.
Status update: Mo Bamba (illness) and James Ennis (illness) "not feeling well", but will play Sunday
As if the Magic didn't have enough issues, coach Clifford gave some worrisome comments ahead of their game against the Denver Nuggets. Although Bamba and Ennis are both available (and Ennis is still starting), they are suffering from the non-COVID illness that has spread throughout the team, and is keeping Khem Birch and MCW out of the lineup. Coach Clifford said that they "really aren't feeling well", but that they'll still play. This means that they may not get as many minutes as they were projected for originally. In addition to that, Randle has a hamstring injury that is bothering him, which is why he will come off the bench. R.J. Hampton will get the start at point guard against his former team, and may play minutes in the low to mid 30's since Randle looks to be limited by the hamstring injury. The Magic have eight available players, but three of them are hobbled. There's a chance they all play with no issues, but just add more worry to the blowout risk.
