Jeff Janis Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
Jeff Janis (quad) returned to practice Thursday, James Starks (concussion) did not
Janis is somewhat of a cult hero for a limited number of people on DFS twitter, but the reality is he's had three total receptions since catching all four targets for 30 yards and a touchdown in Week 7 against the Falcons. He filled in for an injured Randall Cobb that game but has since moved behind Geronimo Allison on the depth chart. It's likely Janis picks up some extra snaps if Jordy Nelson (ribs) can't play, but it's doubtful he can produce anything useful for fantasy. He's currently our second-lowest projected player on the slate. Starks hasn't made any progress since suffering a concussion, he's not expected to play this weekend. Green Bay will continue to start Ty Montgomery and use Christine Michael as a change-of-pace back and Aaron Ripkowski in short-yardage situations. Ripkowski has scored a touchdown in consecutive games and is a legitimate threat to Montgomery's touchdown expectation. Green Bay only gave Ripkowski two carries last week, but that was enough for him to vulture a one-yard score.
Davante Adams misses practice again Tuesday
Adams suffered a concussion Sunday against the Cowboys. With the Packers on a short week, Adam's status for Thursday's game is becoming more doubtful than questionable. Jeff Janis will step up as the number three receiver for Green Bay if Adams sits out, but isn't a strong play. Look for Aaron Rodgers to heavily target Jordy Nelson and Randall Cobb.
Jeff Janis is inactive for the Packers' preseason opener Friday night
Jeff Janis (hand) is inactive for the Packers' preseason opener. The injury does not appear to be serious, but this is a significant setback for the third-year wide out as he fights to make the Packers 53-man roster. Look for Jared Abbrederis and Trevor Davis to see increased workloads with the absence of Janis in the receiving corps tonight versus the Cleveland Browns.
