Jeff Skinner Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections
This winger is struggling but has a great matchup to bounce back.
Remember all of the early-season Jeff Skinner hype? Well that has certainly died off as he has just one goal in 13 March games. He also has just one assist to go with that, so it has been quite the slump for Skinner. He's still firing the puck a bunch with 46 shots in the process, but he really needs to get things going if he wants to get paid the numbers that were being floated back in December. If there is a matchup to turn things around it is a home game against the lowly Detroit Red Wings. Detroit, over the last month, have a league-worst 43.01 CF% and have given up a league-worst 65.99 CA/60. This could help Skinner get back on track. Now, his linemates aren't great in Casey Mittelstadt and Jason Pominville which likely keeps him at low ownership as well as the entire line at low ownership. Skinner may be a better one-off play, as his linemates don't play on the same PP unit as him.
This winger has an elite matchup against a tired team
The Toronto Maple Leafs have been struggling mightily over the last 10 days. They have allowed 26 goals over their last 5 games, being outscored 26-15 which is a nightmare. Tonight is not necessarily even a guarantee that the Leafs can turn things around against the Buffalo Sabres. The Leafs played better last night in a low-event game, but they'll be tired tonight. The top line for the Buffalo Sabres is stacked and is really their only good line. Jeff Skinner, Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart make up the top line and it remains in tact on the Sabres top power play unit. While neither the Sabres power play nor the Leafs penalty kill stand out one way or another, having the full-game correlation is an elite upside play for this line.
Arguably the chalkiest player, but the matchup is too good to ignore
Jack Eichel will be one of the chalkiest players of the night, but when you have a two-game slate in front of you it will be relatively difficult to differentiate yourself too much. His ownership will be high but rightfully so as the Buffalo Sabres host the lowly Edmonton Oilers. Eichel is centering Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart on the top line and with the entire trio playing on the top power play unit together, the upside is elite. They will have full-game correlation and against an Oilers penalty kill has been abysmal killing off just 68.9 percent of their penalties since February 1st, the Sabres PP could be a home run play tonight.
This upcoming UFA is going to get a big pay day
Jeff Skinner is tied for second in the NHL in goals with Patrick Kane with 36 — 6 goals behind league-leading Alex Ovechkin's 42. With Jeff Skinner being an upcoming UFA, he's going to hit a big pay day as his goal-scoring has been on full display playing alongside Jack Eichel all season. Eichel and Skinner play on the top power play unit together which gives the two-man stack elite upside as they'll play the entire game together (for the most part). They visit the Florida Panthers who are rolling out the struggling James Reimer between the pipes, a goalie with just a 3.05 GAA and .901 SV%.
Thriving on his new team, this UFA is looking to get paid.
Jeff Skinner has been incredible for the Buffalo Sabres this season and seems to returned to early-career form as an elite sniper. At just 26 years old, he has really benefited from playing with Jack Eichel and if Buffalo doesn't pay him, somebody else will. His concussion issues seem to be a thing of the past and he has turned into one of the best goal-scorers in the game. He continues to play alongside Eichel tonight with Jason Pominville on the other wing. The Sabres host the New York Rangers tonight who will have Alexandar Georgiev between the pipes. Georgiev has struggled this season with a 3.11 goals against average and .905 save percentage.
This winger is going to get a big pay day this summer.
Jeff Skinner is second in the NHL in goals, six behind Alex Ovechkin. With 31 goals in 50 games Skinner is on pace to smash his career-high of 37 as he is on pace for his first 50-goal campaign. He's been playing on the Buffalo Sabres top line for most of the season alongside Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart. Tonight the Sabres have a premium matchup as they host the lowly Chicago Blackhawks. The Blackhawks are allowing 3.71 goals against per game which is the second-worst mark in the NHL and have decided that rolling out Cam Ward tonight is a good idea. Ward has been horrendous this season with a 3.87 GAA and .888 SV%.
Eichel to Feast Against a Banged-Up Boston Team
Despite going 4-5-2 in their last 11 games the Buffalo Sabres have still managed to keep things interesting as they are just three points ahead of tonight’s opponent for third place in the Metropolitan Division. Jack Eichel has morphed into one of the best players in the game as he has lit the lamp 10 times to go along with seven assists in the team’s last 11 games. Mike Skinner has helped him out tremendously as they are a deadly duo on home ice tonight against a once again depleted Boston Bruin team. While Skinner leads the team with 26 goals it is Eichel who has the team lead with 34 assists and 49 points in 38 games. Buffalo’s home record is 12-4-2 so look for the top line to get the juicy match-ups for most of the night.
This winger has been a big reason for the Buffalo Sabres surprise success.
Many people thought the Buffalo Sabres got a huge bargain when they acquired Jeff Skinner in the offseason but nobody expected the offensive — more specifically goal-scoring — explosion. It was kind of assumed that concussions and injuries had derailed his career but he's back and looking as good as he ever has in the NHL. His 24 goals are second to only Alex Ovechkin in the NHL and he is showing no signs of slowing down. Playing on the top line with Jack Eichel and Sam Reinhart, this line as a while has been elite. Buffalo hosts the struggling Florida Panthers — a team allowing 3.55 goals against per game — the fourth-worst in the NHL.
Hottest Player in NHL in Great Matchup
Jack Eichel is one of the game's best players, but he's taken his game to a new level lately. He has multi-point games in seven of his last night, including a four point outburst (two goals, two assists) in his last game. He has found great chemistry with linemates Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart. Tonight, he faces a Florida team allowing 4.00 goals per game on the road this year, fifth worst in the NHL. Eichel should be in store for yet another multi-point effort.
This team has been a big surprise this season.
Jack Eichel and the Buffalo Sabres have been one of the biggest surprises in the NHL this season as they currently sit 6th in points. Eichel has been primarily playing with Jeff Skinner and Sam Reinhart and this line has been insane. Skinner has 21 goals on the season which has seen Eichel get a large uptick in assists with a slight decrease in goal rate. Part of the reason for the decreased goal-scoring his he has just a 7.2 percent shooting percentage whereas last year that number was up to 10.2. We can expect some positive regression in the goal department moving forward.
