Jimmy Clausen to start for Ravens
Fantasy Football players planning to use the Seattle Seahawks DST were hoping for Matt Schaub to start in this one with his frequency of throwing pick-6's. However, Jimmy Clausen is also a great QB match up to target and could lose for the second time this season to the Seattle Seahawks for 2 different teams. In Week 3, Clausen's stat line was 9 of 17 for 63 yards passing, 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. The Schedule-Adjusted Defense vs. Position Rankings (DvP) have the Seahawks 9th against QB's, 6th against RB's and 7th against WR's. One weak spot for the Seahawks' defense has been the TE spot, where they rank 31st. With the Seahawks playing well on both sides of the ball and the Ravens hurt at the most important offensive skill positions with Joe Flacco and Steve Smith out for the year, the Seahawks are a great DST play for Week 14. The road match up is less than ideal, but the Seahawks should be fine away from home in this one.
Seahawks DST to beat Jimmy Clausen again?
9 of 17 for 63 yards passing, 0 touchdowns and 0 interceptions with a QBR of 21.9 and a Rating of 61.6. These were Jimmy Clausen's numbers in Week 3 to go along with 5 three-and-outs out of their 9 possessions. Now Clausen finds himself in position to start for the Baltimore Ravens with Matt Schaub (chest, shoulder) listed as questionable and expected to be a game-time decision after not practicing all week. Schaub being out may actually be a downgrade to the Seahawks' match up with his uncanny ability to throw pick-6's to opposing defenses. Using our Schedule-Adjusted Defense vs. Position Rankings (DvP) from the "NFL First Look" article posted each week, we can see that the Seahawks are 9th against QB's, 6th against RB's and 7th against WR's when strength of schedule is taken into account. Their weak spot has been the TE spot, where they rank 31st. The raw numbers for Fan Duel and Draft Kings fantasy points against allowed is even more impressive, allowing 66.19 FPTS and 78.32 FPTS against per game, respectively. If Sherman shadows the Ravens' top receiver Kamar Aiken, Sherman should have no problems shutting him down, nor should the Seattle defense as a whole against the Ravens' depleted receiving corps. Fire up the Seahawks as a high-end fantasy option this week in both cash/head-to-head games and GPP tournaments no matter whether they face an inept Jimmy Clausen or the pick-6 machine, Matt Schaub.
Jimmy Clausen likely to start for Baltimore this weekend
Reports out of the Ravens camp indicate that it will be Jimmy Clausen who gets the start over the injured Matt Schaub for the injury riddled Baltimore Ravens this weekend against the Seattle Seahawks. Outside of Buck Allen there is little to like on the Ravens offense and even Allen is a risky play against a Seahawks defense that just completely shut down Adrian Peterson. The Seahawks defense is an elite play this weekend in both cash and GPP's and should be one of, if not the, highest owned defenses across the industry.
Matt Schaub misses practice, Jimmy Clausen running with first team
Regardless of who starts at QB for the Ravens, they are going to have a very tough draw against Seattle. Schaub dealt with a variety of ailments in last week's game and went through the league's concussion protocol, but he's still dealing with lingering affects of other injuries (knee, shoulder). It's going to be nearly impossible to justify targeting any member of the Ravens offense as a core play, but Javorius Allen should continue to rack up receptions out of the backfield and is a candidate to see 15-18 carries, but Baltimore will likely have trouble staying with the run game for long. Whether it's Schaub or Clausen, the Seattle D/ST unit is a prime DFS target in Week 14.
