This winger looks to get back on track in tonight's matchup

Johnny Gaudreau is having a career season, but he has slowed down a bit as of late. However, this should not be of much of a concern in tonight's road matchup against the Anaheim Ducks. Now, Calgary has been resting players lately so that could be a bit of a concern so be sure to check out who is and is not in tonight's lineup. The Flames have been elite as of late as their 65.11 CF/60 ranks 4th and they have a league-best 57.63 CF% since March 1st. Gaudreau continues to play with Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm and they make for an elite line stack as they play on the top power play unit together giving them full-game correlation.

This center has become quite underpriced

Sean Monahan has seen his price drop across the industry, considering how dominant this line has been this season. Monahan is centering Johnny Gaudreau and Elias Lindholm on the Calgary Flames top line as they host the Los Angeles Kings tonight. He is having a career season tying his career-high in goals so far, while surpassing his career-high in assists and points. The Flames have the fourth-best CF/60 over the last month with a 64.69 rate and they have a league-best 57.21 CF% over the same time period.

This winger has been phenomenal this season on his new team

While many will point to his linemates and more specifically Johnny Gaudreau for the emergence and breakout of Elias Lindholm, he has certainly pulled his weight. Since January 1st, he is right up there with Gaudreau as the pair are tied for the team lead in points over the last two months with 28 points in 25 games. Additionally, he leads the team with 11 power play points over that same stretch. The two are centered by Sean Monahan to make up the Calgary Flames top line. The three also make up 60 percent of the Flames top power play unit which gives them elite upside and full-game correlation despite taking on Frederik Andersen who has been incredible this season.

A recent change to the top line should not effect this superstar

Elias Lindholm was recently taken off the top line in favour of Matthew Tkachuk and this new line is expected to remain together tonight as the Calgary Flames host the lowly Anaheim Ducks. John Gibson — the one bright spot for the Ducks this season is on the IR so back-up goalie Ryan Miller is expected between the pipes. Now, Miller has been solid this season with a 2.39 GAA and .929 SV%, but the rest of the team is a dumpster fire. This line also plays on the top power play unit together and the Flames PP has been top 5 since January 1st, converting at a 25.4 percent rate.

This winger has been on a tear since December 1st.

Since December 1st, Johnny Gaudreau is tied for the league lead in points with 44 with Nikita Kucherov and in goals with 19 with Steven Stamkos. His line has been elite with Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm. Tonight, the Calgary Flames take on an Alex Ovechkin-less Washington Capitals as he serves his one game suspension for skipping the All Star game. Furthermore, this line stays in tact on the top power play unit which gives them full-game correlation and elite upside.

Look For Tkachuk to Fuel the Fire Tonight

When it comes to the Calgary Flames we always think of the top line of Johnny Gaudreau, Elias Lindholm and Sean Monahan. I mean, why wouldn’t we as they combined for 49 points over the last 10 games going into last night’s contest against the Detroit Red Wings. Matthew Tkachuk makes for a decent one-off play here as he joins the top line when the Flames draw a penalty. Tkachuk’s numbers are right there with then top line as he has lit the lamp eight times to go along with six assists over the last 11 games.

This winger has been even better since the Christmas break.

Johnny Gaudreau was on an absolute tear going into the Christmas break. Since then, he's been even better, compiling a league-best 21 points in his 10 games since then. It can get repetitive on short-slates with lines like this, but Gaudreau, Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm have a great matchup one home ice against the Buffalo Sabres who have been horrendous lately. After starting off the season 17-6-2 in their first 25 games, the Sabres have since been in a downward spiral going 6-11-4 in the next 21. This is a great opportunity for the streaking Flames — 8-1-1 in their last 10 games and 2nd overall in the NHL — to pick the corpse of a dying Sabres team.

Expensive Defenseman Should Be Worth the Cost

While most will make the Calgary forwards (Johnny Gaudreau, Elias Lindholm, Sean Monahan) their first priority, I think Mark Giordano might be an even higher priority for me tonight. Fitting all of them is possible, but it requires some value across the rest of your lineup. Giordano has been on an absolute tear lately with eight points in his last four games, including two three-point games. He should see 25+ minutes of ice time, including all the time he can handle on the number one power play.

Simply put: he's the hottest player in the NHL.

Johnny Gaudreau's 16 goals since December 1st lead the NHL and his 37 points are tied with Nikita Kucherov for the NHL lead. Linemates Sean Monahan and Elias Lindholm have been crushing it as well, as Monahan is tied for 5th in NHL scoring and Lindholm tied for 10th since December 1st. This team is hosting a Florida Panthers team that is on the tail-end of a back to back after blowing a 3-2 lead with 8 seconds left in the game and then losing in a shootout to the Edmonton Oilers last night. This game screams letdown for the Panthers so I expect the Flames to put up a big number.

This player leads the league in goals since December 1st.

Although there has been plenty of talk about how incredible Nikita Kucherov has been over the last couple months, Johnny Gaudreau has been keeping pace over the last couple months. Since December 1st, Gaudreau is 2nd in points with 35 but 1st in goals with 16. He's playing alongside Sean Monahan who is 4th since December 1st with 27 points and Elias Lindholm who is tied for 9th with 24 points.
