Josh Doctson Daily Fantasy News, Rankings, Projections

Vikings Waive Josh Doctson

The Vikings waived Josh Doctson Tuesday. The WR finishes with 1 game played and 0 catches for the Vikings. It seems like a good sign for Adam Thielen's health that the Vikings no longer need Doctson.

Josh Doctson Activated to 53-Man Roster by Vikings

Doctson has been activated to the Vikings' 53-man roster. The Vikings will be without star WR Adam Thielen

Josh Doctson (Leg) Placed on IR

Josh Doctson was placed on the IR Thursday with the possibility of returning later this season. He had been limited in practice, so he must have aggravated the injury further. The Vikings will continue to run out Adam Thielen, Stefon Diggs and Chad Beebe as their top-3 WR's. Given their run-heavy offense, there is little value beyond those 3 at WR.

Stefon Diggs (Hamstring) Does Not Practice

Stefon Diggs did not practice due to a hamstring injury. This is a surprising turn of events, as Diggs had been assumed healthy. This could just be a cautious move by the Vikings. We will have updates later this week. If Diggs does miss time it would help newly signed Josh Doctson carve out a larger role in the offense in Week 1.

Josh Doctson and Tajae Sharpe are both active today

Both Tajae Sharpe and Josh Doctson are active for today's game. While neither receiver would garnish much attention on a full slate a case could be made for playing either player as a dart throw on Saturday's two-game slate. The Redskins, in particular, are extremely thin in the pass-catching department with both Jordan Reed and Vernon Davis sidelined with injuries.

Chris Thomson expected to play

Chris Thompson has been battling an illness throughout the week but appears ready to play vs The Jaguars. With a dwindling role in this depleted Redskins offense, the once-promising Thompson remains a very risky flex option for the week. Fellow teammate Josh Doctson will also join Thompson on the field today. With an implied team total less than 15 points, it's hard to get excited about any member of this Redskins team.

TE Jordan Reed ruled out Sunday; WR Josh Doctson and RB Chris Thompson are questionable

Vernon Davis will be elevated to a near every-down role, one where the veteran tight end has excelled in the past. Given his $3,200 price on DraftKings, Davis should be a punt consideration. Thompson has been underwhelming and used sparingly since returning from his lengthy mid-season absence. He's now dealing with an illness but can probably be ignored whether he plays or not, with Josh Johnson now under center for the Redskins. The same can be said for Josh Doctson who's trying to clear the concussion protocol in time for Sunday.

Rapoport: Redskins WR Jamison Crowder (ankle) will be out a few weeks; WR Jehu Chesson promoted to active roster from practice squad

For yet another week, the Redskins are going to be banged up on the offensive side of the ball. They were without both Chris Thompson and Jamison Crowder this past Sunday, and it's possible they could be without multiple weapons again - Paul Richardson hasn't practiced either of the last two days, while Chris Thompson and Adrian Peterson are both dealing with ailments. Jordan Reed should benefit from an added target or two with Crowder out, while Maurice Harris likely fills slot duties for the time being.

Schefter Saturday Night Hammers: Chris Thompson, Jamison Crowder both expected to sit; Dalvin Cook expected to be limited to roughly half the offensive snaps

Chris Thompson and Jamison Crowder are both expected to sit Sunday against the Panthers. With Thompson out, Kapri Bibbs should pick up passing down duties and with Adrian Peterson banged up, it's possible he ends up earning a healthy share of the rushing work, especially if the Redskins are playing from behind. Crowder did not practice at all this week, and Josh Doctson/Paul Richardson are both banged up heading into Sunday. Maurice Harris could be in store for a fairly large role in the offense, setting him up to have some very solid PPR value especially considering his $3K salary on DraftKings. Harris can operate out of the slot and his ceiling would rise if any of the other Washington pass-catchers are ruled out on Sunday. Jordan Reed is a strong TE target across the industry while Bibbs also sets up as one of the premier value plays at RB on DraftKings.

Dalvin Cook is expected to be limited to roughly half the snaps, so he's going to be really tough to touch for DFS purposes. Latavius Murray, Roc Thomas and CJ Ham are candidates to see increased work, but none of them are recommended value targets at this point.

Josh Doctson (heel) OUT Monday night

Josh Doctson has been ruled inactive Monday night due to a heel injury. Maurice Harris will be starting in his place, although the most likely beneficiaries of his absence are Paul RIchardson, Jamison Crowder and Jordan Reed, who all can expect to see a slight bump in targets. That said, don't expect this Redskins offense to look that different, as Doctson had not been making a big impact thus far.
